Chapter 1

“Toast! Toast! Toast!” The chants from my teammates become louder. The same word. On repeat. Until I stand front and center at the bar, beside my best friend and teammate, Christian Chase.

We’ve known each other for most of our lives. Since we were nobodies. Long before we ever went pro. Long before we earned our nicknames (me as the Dominator and him as the Cyclone) for our skills on the ice. Long before we won two cups together. Way before we ever knew of the brand-new expansion team called the New York Nighthawks, let alone joined the franchise—him as center and team captain, me as his unofficial enforcer, aka his right winger.

We’re still in the thick of our first season with the Nighthawks, and Chris is marrying the woman of his dreams. I don’t blame him for not wanting to wait until our off-season. Serena’s a catch, and Chris is in love like I’ve never seen him before.

“We’re back to where it all began.” I lean into Chris, raising my voice an octave above the crowd that’s hooting.

Chris laughs. “Technically, it began at a 7-Eleven, but don’t you dare mention that in your speech.”

I grab my drink from the bar behind me. We’re NHL guys. Some hold bottles of beer while others, like me, drink top-shelf bourbon. I raise my glass. “Quiet, guys! Quiet.”

“Shut up, assholes.” Thor, our resident Marvel movie fanatic and our right defenseman, also known as Theo Ture, stands on a chair, bellowing for the troops to get in line. This Thor doesn’t need an Asgardian hammer. His burly frame, unkempt hair, and long beard make him a force to be reckoned with. He’s also a player with mad skills who quickly moved up to our line of A-lister defensemen that causes opposing teams to cower.

“Thanks.” I offer him a smile of approval, then clap Chris on the back with my free hand. “Well, guys. Here we are. At The End Zone . . . where Chris kissed Serena. That should be the title of a movie, because it sure as hell sounds romantic.”

Damon the Demon DeLaurentis, our left winger, blasts the air horn I gave him, and a large banner unfurls from the ceiling, with a huge picture of Chris and Serena. Both smiling. Both happier than anyone has a right to be.

“Banner!” Thor roars. He really does Chris Hemsworth better than Chris Hemsworth. That’s what makes him so popular with the ladies. That, along with his uncanny ability to impersonate any actor. Ladies love his Robert Downey Jr. impression, too. Guess the Avengers are hot.

Lucky, also known as Ryan McGee, a fresh faced second line defenseman and prankster runs through thebar, wrapped in a different banner. This one features my best friend on a magazine cover. It was Lucky’s go-to prank when he first joined the team. Like this didn’t get old the first three times he tried tying the damned thing to Chris’s SUV. That magazine cover, lined in a row, with Chris all growly mad and shirtless enraged my best friend like nothing else.

“Mother fucker.” Chris scowls. Some things never change. It’s his reaction every time he sees this banner.

“For the record, I knew nothing about this,” I say to Chris, who’s busy glaring at Lucky. “Look at the bright side, bro—at least it’s not attached to your Rover.” I’m a glass-half-full kind of guy. Especially when I throw a bachelor party that the host requested be tame.

The Vamp, our left defenseman Alexi Vladislav, chases Lucky through the bar, yanking the banner from him as groans erupt through the bar. Lucky is butt naked, streaking through the crowd. Covering my eyes with my free hand, I’m haunted by the image of a pale Lucky streaking us. An image I’ll never forget, not only because it’s forever seared in my skull, but because I’m sure it will be on YouTube tomorrow. There will probably be a meme or something. Lucky’s not-so-lucky charm will be the gift that keeps on giving.

The Vampire laughs and applauds. “Hell, yeah, Lucky.”

“Hell, no, Lucky!” a woman chides, just as she’s shoving me aside. “Lucky won’t be lucky much longer if he doesn’t put on some damn clothes.”

“Sorry, I’ve got him.” Damon the Demon chases Lucky into the men’s room.

The brunette is tall with long legs. Her hair is parted straight down the middle, two braids cascading over her shoulders. She’s hot. And that’s before she turns to face me, dressed in a white blouse which is unbuttoned just enough to show off her black sports bra, a plaid skirt, tights, thigh-high socks, and Mary Janes. Forget just plain hot. This woman is holy f***ing scorching!

I can’t decide if she’s going for the “Sister Christian” look or a Britney Spears vibe. She seriously rocks the sexy-schoolgirl thing, and I fight the strong urge to make a play for her at my best friend’s bachelor party. She could be my teacher anytime.

“This is a bachelor party. I get it.” She points to the door. “But read the sign. ‘No shoes, no shirt . . .’ Your Lucky had no underwear on, let alone the rest of it.”

“Understood.” I study the woman who has the guts to boss around burly hockey players. She wears minimal makeup and is a knock out, with high cheekbones, full lips, and an angular chin. And tawny eyes that are mesmerizing.

“You’re staring,” she says, eying me with a mock severity and an overemphasized facial expression. “Are you okay? Have you never seen a woman before? Should . . . should I call for help?”

I laugh. A full-on belly laugh. This usually doesn’t happen with women. The guys, sure. Women, not so much. We’re usually all hot and heavy to start and then have nothing to discuss, and/or nothing in common.

The men’s room door closes, revealing a fully clothed Lucky exiting. Damon mouths, “I’m sorry.”

Holding two fingers to her eyes, she points them at Lucky in an “I’m watching you” way. It’s enough to make him turn beet red before she heads back behind the bar.

“Okay, now that we’re all clothed, let’s get back to business.” I study the many faces that comprise our team. This loud, imperfect family of alpha males who are the Nighthawks. Sure, there have been some first-year growing pains, but we overcame them. Together. We united as a team, just like we’re doing today for Chris. Because this is where he met the one.
“Here, at this very bar, not too long ago, some of us witnessed a very public first kiss between Chris and Serena.”

Some cattle calling ensues. “Little did we know then that we were witnessing the start of something real. I mean, we’re NHL guys, right? What do we know about romance? Chris didn’t know a fucking thing. He spilled a raspberry Slurpee on Serena just to get her attention.”

Chris rolls his eyes, unable to hide his smile.

“Like I wouldn’t go there? Seriously, dude, I’m your best man. I had to go there.”

The crowd is eating this up. I command a room, and this is one occasion where that comes in handy. When the whoops and shouts die down, I add, “If Chris can snag the woman of his dreams, it gives us all hope. Besides, Serena brings out the best in him.”

“He’s right about that. She does.” Chris smiles at the crowd.

“I don’t have to tell you guys that Chris and I go way back. You already know that. I do have a confession to make, though.” This holds the crowd’s attention. There are some “oh yeahs” mixed in with some mock gasps for good measure. “The truth is, I never thought he’d find a woman who would put up with him or his shit.”

With a shrug, Chris laughs. So, does Liam Clair, our goalie and resident family man. Something tells me he’ll have competition for that title now that Chris and Serena are expecting their first child.

The crowd is with me. All of us are thrilled for our Cyclone, our team captain, our friend. No one more so than me. “You’re my best friend, you’re my family—my brother. Always have been. No one’s happier for you than I am.”

Hanging his head, Chris nods. I’m making him emotional. Hell, I’m getting emotional. Me—the NHL bad boy who’s spontaneous, and who never fails to put on a show for our fans, is overcome with emotion. “You won the lottery when you met Serena. I may be biased, but I mean it when I say that she’s damned lucky to have you by her side. Join me in wishing Chris and Serena the better-than-the-Stanley-Cup kind of happiness. The happily-ever-after kind of happiness. The always-and-forever kind of happiness.”

I raise my glass and the guys join me. Hands outstretched, with wide smiles, they shout in unison, “To Chris and Serena!”

Ice Hard was a fun romance with a satisfying HEA. Nick is a swoony hockey player who has two personas. He has his "hockey persona" as the alpha male dominating player on the ice who takes no crap. Then he also has the sensitive side that opens himself up to Cami I search of the connection and relationship that his best friend has found with his wife. Cami has been through a bad relationship with her ex-husband who unfortunately was also a hockey player but not a loyal one. Nick has to prove himself to Cami and be sure she knows he is NOTHING like her ex. To make things even more complicated, Cami is dealing with drama within her family. This may push her into leaving town in search of other job opportunities and a fresh start. The only thing holding her back is her fledgling relationship with Nick but she's unsure of where it's really heading. I loved this book. Nick really was a great character. Who doesn't love an alpha male who can still be caring and loving?! He was the ultimate! I look forward to reading more by Tracy Goodwin! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoy hockey books, and this one did not disappoint! I loved the characters, the underlying reason for Cami to not want to get involved with anyone, Nick’s reactions to everything…SCORE! There were deep, emotional moments, extremely hot moments, a great storyline, and the characters were great! This is the second book in the New York Nighthawks hockey series written by romance author Tracy Goodwin. I would recommend reading book 1 first, but it isn’t absolutely necessary. The characters do move forward into this one, though. It is a quicker dual person POV read. I really liked this one and would give it 4.5 stars (rounding up to 5)

As a professional hockey player, Nick has never had a problem having one-night stands. But after seeing his best friend and teammate settle down and get engaged, Nick starts to think he might want something more too. He meets Cami and thinks he might like to try and have more with her, but there's a catch. Cami won't date hockey players. Nick convinces her to go to his best friends wedding with him, but will he be able to convince her to see him after that? This is the first book I've read by Tracy Goodwin but I'll definitely be reading more. I really enjoyed the characters and even the side characters were so well written that I got mad on Cami's behalf while reading the book. #IceHard #NetGalley

My name is Nick George and I’m a hockey player for the New York Nighthawks. Women tell me I’m a catch and I could have a different one in my bed every night, but I’ve gotten tired of the puck bunnies and the meaningless sex. When I meet Camille Benetti, she’s totally different than the girls I meet. First of all she’s not interested in dating hockey players and won’t give me the time of day. But I am tenacious and I will prove to her that I’m different. One thing Camille can say about Nick, he is persistent. No matter what I say, he doesn’t give up on me. Then he asks me for a favor. His best friend and fellow hockey teammate is getting married and he wants me to go as his date. What Nick doesn’t know is that I was hurt by a hockey player that I was in love with years ago, which is the reason of my rule not to date them. Now that I’ve agreed to go as Nick’s date, I know it will be harder to say no to him. Can I trust another hockey player again? I received a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Nick is the perfect mix of a hunky, successful athlete who also is kind and interesting. He’s not interested in puck bunnies and prefers to watch documentaries about insects or history. He’s attracted to Camille when he meets her bartending for his best buddy’s bachelor party. Camille has had a tough few years after she was dumped by her first husband, a hockey player, suffered a dreadful miscarriage, had her mother die, and grown apart from her father. She is just trying to hold her family together and take care of the family restaurant, but her father refuses to let her buy the restaurant and would prefer to sell to an outsider. There was room for plenty of plot and character development in the story, but that all seemed to take second place once the two main characters started sleeping together. At that point the ratio of sex to plot shortchanged the plot which felt rushed for the second part of the book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. Where do I start?! I loved this book! Camille and Nick are absolutely perfect for each other. I loved the music choices, lol. This book goes a long way towards perfection. The story grabs you and holds on to the very end. The characters are gripping and real. Their phrases, “ you’re my only”, (sigh) and so much about their relationship made me love them. Camille is deeply damaged both physically and emotionally and Nick is the perfect healing touch that she needs. She is also exactly what he needs, she’s something real and more...I loved that there was no BS. It was a refreshing change, don’t get me wrong. This book is full of all the angst you crave but just in a different way. Tracy Goodman’s hockey characters are bigger than life and I want more! From the beginning to the middle to the end she didn’t disappoint. This series is just getting started and I can’t wait to read the next books she will surely (hopefully) have coming. So if you like your run of the mill hockey drama...this is NOT the book for you. But if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary with just a little bit more... everything.! Read now and enjoy!

This is Nick and Cami book, Nick is a hockey player for the New York nighthawks he has it all! Fame, money, success, and all the pick bunnies he could want! The one thing he doesn't want anymore is one night stands, he wants what his best friend has a committed relationship! Then he meets a Britney spears lookalike lol she's sexy, smart, sarcastic and hot as heck! But she only wants one night stands! No commitments !! Cami learned a hard lesson to never date a jock again!! But she can do one night with Nick and be his date for his besties wedding! What could one night hurt?! Thinking was ok but like the first book it reads like choppy or something? It doesn't flow smoothly? Idk it's hard to explain the story wasn't bad at all I just don't like the flow of it if that makes any sense lol thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

Lets be honest who does not love a good hockey romance. This hockey romance is hot. Nick is tired of puck bunny's and he is ready to settle down. He sees his best friend happy with one lady and that is what he wants for himself. He sets his sights on Cami. Cami is a little hard to get since she does not date hockey players. Nick will not take no for an answer. The chemistry between these two is intense. I loved Nick. He was just sweet and has a really great personality. Cami is a very strong willed woman who knows what she wants. This book was such a fun read. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Thanks Net Galley. Nick will totally make you swoon! He had me from the beginning...strong physical athlete with a love for cars looking for a more committed relationship, swoon! Plus he was so gentle, supportive, mesmerized, in awe of, and loving with Camille. I loved how upfront she was with him in her vulnerabilities. There were no games played or deceit in this story, just real honesty, understanding, and love. I was thrown for a loop and angered in one scene, shocked by its revelation, but Nick was still a prince of a man. The hilarity between his teammates with each other and also with Camille were definite laugh out loud, bring a smile to your face scenes. I only wish there was a little more story with her family in the end. Now to wait for more from these characters. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

Ice Hard definitely packs in the steaminess, mix in that the hero is a bit of an alpha, yet sweet and kind. Makes Nick, a rather unique and intriguing character. I truly enjoyed this read, normally I’m used to the hero being the one with commitment issues, but it was the heroine this time. She’s holding quite a few insecurities that stem from a previous relationship, but there’s also another reason that’s much more heartbreaking. I honestly couldn’t handle how adamant Camille was about not having a relationship with Nick, even when they’re absolutely perfect for one another. Nick gets all the points for how patient and persistent he was with Camille, plus this guy knows how to make you swoon for days. There’s a lot different elements in Ice Hard, loved the playful banter between them, also that they could reach other like a book, it was like looking into each other’s soul. I loved that Tracy touched on an issue that so many women could relate to. My one huge dislike was Camille’s family, after everything she’s repeatedly done for them. They show zero appreciation towards her, what they’ve done was nearly unforgivable. This one is definitely my favorite in the series and I’m hoping to see more of Nick and Camille in books to come.

Nick is a swoonworthy man! He's everything you could want in a boyfriend - smart, hard working, fun, looking for commitment, family man, thoughtful and supportive. Camille has had no real experience with a guy like Nick and is more than a little wary. Their story is fun and touching. The two characters are likeable and fit together well. It's a great quick read and it made me want to read more from this author. I received a copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is book #2 in the New York Nighthawks series and Nick George's story. Nick is Christian Chase's best friend and now the best man in his wedding. This story starts at Chris' bachelor party and has Nick wishing for a special relationship of his own. At the bar where the party is held, Nick catches the eye of a bartender, Camille Benetti. Cami is attracted to Nick but has sworn off hockey players because of her past. Cami's dream is to own her family's Italian restaurant but her old-fashioned father won't allow it. Nick keeps pursuing Cami until she finally agrees to be his date for Chris' wedding. What Cami didn't realize was that Nick was playing for keeps and he was going to convince Cami that she belongs with him always. It will take a huge leap of faith from Cami to finally commit to Nick but once she does they have a perfect happy ending. I just adored Nick. He may be tall, sexy and alpha but he is also a squishy teddy bear deep down inside. He was the perfect person to help make Cami's dreams come true. I liked Cami, but at times she was so afraid of her past you just wanted to shake her so she would see what was right in front of her. Luckily she came to her senses quickly. Overall this was a fun addition to this series.

ICE HARD is the second instalment in Tracy Goodwin’s contemporary, adult NEW YORK NIGHTHAWKS erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the professional hockey team the New York Nighthawks. This is professional hockey player Nick ‘the Dominator’ George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti’s story line. ICE HARD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person perspectives (Cami and Nick) ICE HARD follows the building relationship between professional hockey player Nick George, and bartender/bookkeeper Camille ‘Cami’ Benetti. Cami Benetti doesn’t do relationships, especially relationship involving professional hockey players but meeting Nick George at his best friend’s bachelor party gave Cami thoughts about second chances. Having learned her lesson in the past, Cami struggled with the potential for infidelity on the road but Nick George was nothing like Cami expected. Nick George is the perfect man for our story line heroine although Cami battles between head and heart believing heart break is waiting for the opportune time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Cami and Nick, and the potential fall-out as Cami struggles with family betrayal, and heart break from the past. Cami Benetti has one goal in mind-owning and operating the family run Italian restaurant but having spent her entire life proving herself worthy, Cami knows it is only a matter of time before she finds herself on the outside looking in. Past betrayal has left Cami broken and hardened to the idea of never finding love, but finding Nick George means the possibility of second chances. Nick George wants what his best friend and fellow hockey player has-his own happily ever after, and Nick believes he has found it in our heroine Cami Benetti but convincing Cami she is worthy will take more than simple wooing and love. The relationship between Cami and Nick is one of immediate attraction but Cami refuses to give into Nick’s attempts to flirt and seduce. Only promising one night together, with no strings, Cami will soon discover Nick is the real deal. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Nick’s fellow teammates: Christian Chase and his fiancé Serena (Ice Hot #1) ; teammates Theo ‘Thor’ Ture, Damon ‘the Demon’ DeLaurentis, Ryan ‘Lucky’ McGee, and Alexi ‘The Vamp’ Vladislav; Cami’s best friend and cousin Sally Benetti, and Cami’s siblings including Mike (and Kayla), Matty, Beth (and Scott), and Ben, as well as their father Tony Benetti. ICE HARD is a story of family, friendship, past betrayals, and moving forward. The fast paced premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are numerous, energetic and flirty although the Benetti clan leaves something to be desired; the romance is seductive and intense. ICE HARD is a welcome and wonderful addition to the author’s New York Nighthawks hockey romance series.

4 1/2 stars. I just love me a handsome, genuine, sexy and oh so sweet hero! Even better when he also happens to be an alpha professional hockey player. Nick George is both men in one swoony package. He is ready to find the one and wants to fall in love and settle down like his best friend and teammate Chris recently did. Camille (Cami) never ever wants to be with a hockey player again thanks to the way her ex-husband treated her. This does not bode well for Nick who is completely smitten with her at first sight. Can Nick win Cami over and get her to take a chance on him? It sure is a pleasure to watch him try. I live both of these characters so much as they feel very relatable. It is easy to see how their pasts have shaped who they are now. This was a wonderful story from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it! Second book I’ve read by this author and I am really liking her style. So far I love this series and look forward to the next book!

Nick is called The Dominator on the ice. He watches his best friend's back both on and off the Ice.. Calli is a protector of her family.' She wants to buy the family restraurant. She meets Nick at Chris's bachelor party while covering for her brother, bartending. She doesnot date hockey players! Nick means to change her mind. This is their story. You will be drawn in by MS Goodwin's twist and turns, building of the characters, family obligations and love, all interwoven into the world of hockey. I couldn't put it down, just turning pages to find out what next. This is the second book in the New York Nighthawks series,

This is the first book that I have read from this author and it was a good read. This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. I love a good sports romance. Nick and Cami were a great couple. The storyline was a bit predictable in parts but there were parts that they dealt with real issues that they needed to overcome to be able to move forward in their relationship. I loved the epilogue and being able to catch a glimpse of their future. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

3 1/2 Stars ... a lusty hockey romance! Nick plays hockey on the same team as Christian from Ice Hot (the first book in the series) and he meets Cami at Christian's bachelor party. Nick is immediately smitten. Cami wants no part of dating a hockey player ... been there, done that! Can Nick persuade Cami to give him a chance? This is a good smutty hockey story ... I just found it very predictable. But I did fall in love with Nick ... who wouldn't? He just seemed so sweet and honorable ... you know, too good to be true! And if I were Cami, I would have kicked my family to the curb. I received an early copy courtesy of Random House-Loveswept through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Tracy Goodwin has a clutch performance with Ice Hard (New York Nighthawks, #2). This is Nick George’s and Camille Benetti’s story. Nick is the best friend and teammate of Christian Chase (New York Nighthawks #1). The book starts out at Christian's bachelor party. Nick is Christian’s best man. After watching Christian and Serena, Nick realizes he wants a meaningful relationship; then he meets Camille. The two hit it off, but Camille wants nothing to do with a hockey player. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers. Ice Hard is a heartwarming story. Nick wants someone whom he can be himself around. Camille had things happen in her past that hurt her confidence. The two have great chemistry and a lot in common. I enjoyed their sarcastic personalities and love of music. They have emotional obstacles to overcome. I like how the characters grew throughout the story. Ice Hard is well-written and easy to read. It is a great addition to the New York Nighthawks series. It has a good plot, interesting twists, family drama, and entertaining hockey scenes with Cami’s ex. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Hot and Sensitive….With his best friend getting married soon, Nick wants a real relationship of his own. Women have always expected Nick to be his 'Dominator' image off the ice and have been disappointed. The last man that Cami wants to date is a hockey player. When Cami starts to see the other side of Nick, she starts to be unwillingly drawn to him. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. What I really like about this book is Nick and Cami and their relationship. Nick is very sensitive to Cami and works hard to have a relationship with Cami. Due to Cami's past, she is gun-shy about getting involved with Nick. Even though there is a lot of steam in this book, the focus is on the relationship. I really like this book and the series.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** Tracy Goodwin was a new to me author when I picked up this book, but seeing that it was a hockey romance, I was definitely willing to take a chance and I'm so glad I did! I'm a sucker for hockey heroes and Goodwin gave us a great one! Like many hockey players, Nick George has enjoyed his playboy ways for years, however he's finally reached the point where he's ready to find the one and settle down. He sees what his best friend has found and that's what he wants. He's going to be the best man in his buddy's wedding and instead of taking just anyone as his date, he wants to take someone who means something to him. When he sees Camille Benatti at the bar, he decides she is what he wants, but that may be more difficult than he initially thought. Camille Benatti works at the restaurant that her family owns and she has big dreams for her future. She's feisty, driven and she goes after what she wants in an unapologetic way. She know that Nick finds her attractive and it isn't that she doesn't return the feelings, but she has a hard no dating hockey player rules and she's not about to break it. She's been hurt in the past and once was enough for her. When Nick begins to try to woo Cami, it's so much fun to witness. Cami is trying as hard as she can to deny the sparks that are flying between them, while Nick is working overtime to convince her that he isn't the kind of guy she's used to. Will he succeed and make it past the walls she's built? I absolutely loved both of these characters. Nick was genuine, and he was the kind of guy who wanted an equal, not someone he would dominate. Cami was strong and she knew what she wanted and what she didn't. The fact she was finally willing to take a chance on Nick once he woo'd her was great to see. I enjoyed this book a lot and while it was my first Tracy Goodwin books, it will not be my last!
