I love the MacCarrick brothers! This book was as good as the first one. I'm working on the third one right now. I could not put Desire down (same as the first one)! They are just so exciting and sexy and steamy and everything you want in a romance book.

This is my first ever romance novel..and I have to say I am glad I chose this as my first! I got into it and could not put it down. Kresley cole wrote in a way that makes the reader feel what the characters are feeling. Some of the parts even made me have the shivers on the back of my neck just as she described in the book! Thats how good it was! I truly recommend it! I can't wait to read more of her writings!

This is the second book in this series, after I read the first I had to get the next two. This is a smooth read, with steamy relationships, steady action, interesting characters and exotic locations. I liked the mystical element woven in too. I found the brothers interesting and I really enjoyed how she wrote the books to blend with each other so that you thought everything happen with months as you read each book. I originally discovered this author when I read her Immortals After Dark series, (which are good reads too). It made me hungry for more of her work. I appreciate an author who writes books that are hard to put down and very enjoyable reading.

I really, really enjoyed this one. I thought it was overall steamier than If You Dare. Kresley writes the best sex scenes in romance today. She also has a great talent for making the reader feel as if part of the story. If you haven't tried her earlier historicals and the new paranormals you have to give them a try. Hugh is simply irresistible and he complements Jane perfectly. The chemistry between these two will grab you right from the start. I finished this book in one night, something that rarely happens. I can't wait to see what Kresley has in store for us in If You Deceive. I only wish I could get it today. Great book, great romance, great author!

Wonderful So well written. Kresley Cole is amazing. The MacCarrick Carothers are swoon worthy. Strong female leads, stronger sexy men. Mystery, adventure, danger, passion and a silly curse . Great details, great story, love the series, can't wait to read the next one.

I really love this series but this book was not my favorite. Hugh and Jane were not my favorite characters but it's still a good read and blends well with Ethan's book

Loved the 1st.... loved the 2nd.... on to the third!!! What i like most about this series is... yeah, ok, theres some low racy sex scenes... but u fall for the characters and WANT them to be together.... and feel the desperation they do when they are not. Good job!!!

I was looking for a new book and happened upon this writer by accident...A happy accident....I have in 2 weeks read everything that she has written. Love her style and the male characters are all delicious...This book in particular was such a fun fast read...sucks you in right away, and makes you sorry to flip the last screen....All of her books are Nook worthy.

I've seen her write much better books. I liked the characters but the story kinda skipped around. This story should have flowed much better.

I was hooked on this book within a few pages. As soon as I finished it I moved on to the next in the series. I will definately be looking for others by this author.

I thought this book was disappointing. I loved 'If you Dare' and was looking forward to the next book in this series.... What happened??? I have to say I too felt like I was reading a modern day romance novel. Weak story line and all over the place, I hope the next one is better.

I was disappointed with this novel. Too repetitive. The whole thing didn't work, I thought I was reading something more contemporary than historical.

If You Desire Kresley Cole Pocket, May 2007, $6.99 ISBN: 1416503609 --- After a decade on the job by 1856 Hugh MacCarrick is considered by his superior Lord Weyland as the perfect assassin dangerous situations do not faze him because he has been cursed his affliction is compounded because he loves Jane, the daughter of his boss unattainable to a MacCarrick, who are cursed ¿to walk with death or walk alone¿. Thus he expects something bad to eventually happen to him anyway so he takes risks that no one else would contemplate. --- However, daring Hugh is not prepared for his latest assignment. Lord Weyland asks Hugh to come home from the continent to keep his daughter Jane safe as he believes a former agent turned rogue Davis Grey plans to kill her. Although he has always loved her, Hugh knows she and the other Weyland eight are women he can never have especially now that he is a hardened killer. Once the threat is neutralized, he will leave. However, Jane will not let him go this time her plan is to seduce her beloved so that he will never leave her again as she believes together they can prevent the curse from happening. --- The second MacCarrick Victorian romantic suspense (see IF YOU DARE) is a fabulous thriller that grips readers from the onset as the hero lives life over the edge because he expects the ancient curse to destroy him he believes. Jane is a terrific counterpart to Hugh because she refuses to back down when she must choose between transferring the curse to her and giving up on her beloved. Without love, she feels she has nothing at all (hopefully Tom Jones the singer will not mind my paraphrasing). --- Harriet Klausner

Book 2 in the series. Like book 1, i'd really give it a 3.5. Like the first book, I also found I was less than enthralled with the heroine. The hero was a good alpha male but almost ridiculously obsessed with the heroine. The story itself was pretty good and the occupational background of the men in this series is different than other romance reads. A decent read and entertaining but not the best of the best. She does write very good intimate scenes tho! :-)

Jane Weyland and Hugh MacCarrick had secretly pined for each other, even after a decade apart. So when Jane's father sent a mysterious missive to his top assassin that his daughter's life was in danger nothing could stop the determined highlander from returning to Jane's side.Ah, another tortured highlander soul...it's so romantic :-) I really am enjoying Ms. Cole's highlanders. As what seems to be an increasingly usual practice, I enjoyed the hero of this second story even more than the first. I liked both Hugh and Jane although I do wish we could have seen more of the secondary characters once they reached Beinn a'Chaorainn. I especially enjoyed the housekeeping competition between Jane and Morag. It is nice to occasionally see how the main characters interact with other characters, it gives them more "character".I'd certainly continue to suggest these books to anyone looking for more highlander tales.

Hugh MacCarrick and Jane Weyland met years earlier than this story starts, they were young but attracted. A family cursehaunts Hugh and he doesn't want to marry, his wife could die. He leaves home and ultimately becomes an assassin.Jane is devestated and throws herself into trying to forget him. However he lingers in the back of her mind.Janes father is Hugh's taskmaster and one of his assassins has turned rogue and started to kill without sanction. To kill his fellow assassins and the people they care for. Hugh is summoned to protect Jane and they marry.Hugh doesn't want to consumate the relationship because of the curse but he's finding it hard to resist Jane. It's entertaining, but there were parts where I just wanted to slap both parties and tell them to get on with it. I do want to read the first book in the series to see if it fleshes out more of the backstory.

If You Desire, the second installment in the MacCarrick brothers trilogy follows Hugh and his longtime beloved Jane, as they get themselves into a marriage of convenience orchestrated by Jane¿s father, so she will be safe under Hugh¿s protection, because there¿s a madman on the loose trying to harm her. The catch in these lovebirds story is that, they have known each other for over a decade, and have been madly in love all that time, but Hugh always thought he didn¿t deserve her, so he disappeared from her life, kept businesses with her father, but avoided her at all costs, but now he agrees to marry her to keep her safe, all the while telling himself he shall never touch her. Obviously this ingenious plan doesn¿t stand a chance, because the minute he lays eyes on her, he¿s utterly lost. But Jane is still hurt that he vanished from her life all those years ago, and as payback, she¿s determined to make his life a living hell. Can my fellow readers imagine how? *wink*I didn¿t enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed (loved!) the third one in the series (yes, I read the third book first), and to be honest I never expected to, because the third book is that good. It made me laugh and cry and wish it would never be over, which didn't happen with this one, and I believe this was mostly the heroine's fault. Even though I think Jane had every right to be bitter and mean to Hugh, after a while it was annoying. And it¿s crazy to admit, but she just...wasn¿t Maddy. Dear Maddy: the main reason why I loved If You Deceive, and I can't help but think everyone else comes up short in comparison with her. Go Maddy! :D

Another great read. This is the second book in the series. The two main characters, Hugh and Jane have loved each other half their lives. He left her thinking he could not have her. She yearned for him for ten years. Threat brings them together. And the heat, the passion they have for one another ignites.

This series is sooooooo good. After many historical romances you sort of get to the point where the romance scene don't "get to you" so much anymore...well...the chemistry between Hugh and Jane is so intense and the scenes between them are positively erotic. Because Hugh and Jane have known each other since childhood the unrequited passion between them is sizzling. This second book in the MacCarrick Brothers series is even better than the first. I'm buying the third one, If You Deceive tomorrow!

I read this trilogy out of order, and this was the last one I read. The characters are the most well-rounded in the series, although I don't think that makes it my favorite or anything. I like the whole trilogy.
