I've enjoyed Chef Irvine on the Food Network and decided to order this book after enjoying his first, Mission: Cook. The recipes in this new volume run the gamut, from great french fries (which he calls pomme frites) with a spicy flavored dipping sauce, to roasted chicken thighs with cherry chutney (amazing flavor combo). The emphasis is on rock solid technique and interesting pairings of ingredients (like a pasta dish with artihcokes and pineapple!). For the more complicated dishes, there are timelines that go into terrific detail, so I feel like I can go ahead and try some of the more challenging ones with confidence! His can-do attitude is much in evidence througout and inspires a kitchen weekend warrior to get cooking!

This book is too hard. It doesn't offer simple cooking. The ingredients are rare to get like most wines that are not available in Stop and Shop grocery stores. I know Robert Irvine can cook an amazing meal but this book is not for the simple cooking or starter can cook.
