Since my divorce five years ago, these are the two labels I've identified with. Now, I'm ready for more. Ready to give dating a shot, even with an eight-year-old daughter and twenty-four hour shifts needing my attention.

When Sydney has a snow-day and we have an epic malfunction in the kitchen, we decide to head to the breakfast joint we've frequented for years.

Except today something is different.

Our normal waitress, Emma, isn't all baggy clothes and ducking her head to keep me from seeing her face. Today? Today I feel like I see her for the first time, and damned if our gazes don't ignite a heat I've only felt while on the job.

Inflame is a great way to break into Midnight Cove Novellas. Emma and Ash have a quiet yet insanely intense relationship that is built on trust, compromise, understanding and balance. As a single parent Ash has had to learn to juggle many things in life. Leaning on his family for help, Ash is able to continue being a firefighter and the primary caregiver for his daughter. Emma is returning home and helping out at the cafe while making some pretty heavy life decisions. Boldly moving out of her comfort zone Emma finds herself exactly where shes wanted to be for so long, on a date with Ash. Already half in love with Ashs’ daughter, Sydney, the couple quickly becomes a trio. Sydney really grabs the readers heart right from the start, Ash already has readers pulling for him and hoping he finds the right girl. And Emma is as sweet as they come, the quiet, shy girl who finally reached out to take hold of what she wanted. The characters are well developed characters who have blue collar backgrounds, making them more realistic, more relatable. I love how Laramie’s characters all found a way to be a team in the end, I disliked a few characters in the start of the novella, by the end I felt like they all matured and were really pulling it together for the sake of Sydney and the sake of being adults. I could strong recommend Inflame to any romance reader looking for a quick, intense happily-ever-after.

Inflame is book one in the Midnight Cove series and a great way to kick off a new series by this author. Who doesn’t love reading about single dad’s or firefighters? Ash is both and boy does he have a full plate on his shoulders, but this just goes to show you that there are some real great single dad’s out there. Sydney is such a sweet girl and smart for her age. You feel for her when it comes to the mother though and can only hope that what occurs is true to her word after all this time. Emma is always trying to hide who she truly is, but she steps outside of her comfort zone on a snowy day and this leads to some unexpected circumstances that she never imagined would come true. What I would like to say is fate is all about timing! It was not time back then for Emma and Ash who knew each other since high school. They were from two separate worlds, well okay they still are, but they are older now and look at life differently. A certain little girl was meant to be in the picture before it came to the now. This book is a quick read, great way to start a new series and you can connect easily with these characters in this town. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and to see who it is. You get sweet, funny, some sad moments and great chemistry between Emma and Ash. Let’s not forget that the things that come out of Sydney’s mouth are just to cute or the firehouse moments that are hilarious. Once again Laramie has put out another awesome book that you don’t enjoy reading and falling in love with these characters.

Disjointed story, bad editing, unbelievable characters. I wish I had my $3 back.

I loved this story so much!!! I mean you can't go wrong with a single hot dad who's life revolves around his daughter and he is a firefighter to boot...lord have mercy!!! Emma and Ash have known each other since high school. She has always had a crush on Ash for about that long. Emma is shy but when she sees him come in for breakfast one morning she seizes the opportunity to see if there could be more between them. Ash has been beginning to see Emma in a new light....he wants to see where this goes but wants to make sure that Syd is top priority even more so since her mom has come back to town and wants to see Syd after not seeing her for 6 months. I enjoyed the banter between Ash and was so sweet to watch them fall for each other. The relationship that developed between Syd and Emma so was clear that they absolutely adored each other. This author knocked this story out of the park and I highly recommend this read to all. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next and you best believe I will be one clicking that book asap. Well done!!!

Sexy single dad and firefighter, adorable waitress who hasn't quite figured her life out yet, and a totally lovable little girl - add that to a low angst, sweet and sexy read, and Inflame is the perfect prescription for a book hangover. There are some emotional moments, but the romance is easy going and totally charming. We see the struggles of a single parent, the exhaustion, the need to put yourself on the back burner while doing what has to be done for your child, and it's all addressed wonderfully as Ash devotes himself to Sydney. Every little girl should have an Ash in their life. Every big girl should have one too, and Emma is the winner on that front. Of course, she's the type of character that you can't help but root for. She's still finding her own bliss, but she thinks of others first and fits perfectly with Ash and his ready made family. This is a great start to a promising series, and I can't wait to see what this author has for us next.

What a wonderful heartfelt story. It’s a storyline that makes you smile from the beginning to the end. For me this book is like a breath of fresh air in spring, with smiles and happiness throughout. Very well written with character you’ll fall in love with. Especially Syd, who will steal your heart with your grown up attitude to the world. Ash is a firefighter and a single Dad raising a precocious 5 year old daughter named Syd. Syd is his whole world and he goes out of his way to be both Mom and Dad to her. Yet after five years of divorce, Ash wishes for a partner in life. Emma is a shy woman who works 2 jobs to make ends meet. She knew Ash in high but he was way out of her league and only had eyes for Courtney, his ex-wife. Now she just daydreams about him when he brings Syd in for breakfast at the diner where she works. But what happens when one day, Ash leaves his number on the ticket for her? Will shy Emma get the nerve to call him? This is a Wonderful small town romance that I highly recommend. 2 Thumbs up and 5 stars for an amazingly sweet story that you won’t soon forget.

This book was so easy to read and get caught up in. In fact, it was over before I was ready to let these characters go. The story itself is a slow burn but the chemistry and connection between Ash and Emma is instantaneous. Ash is everything sweet and noble you could possibly want in the single dad firefighter. Emma has a giant heart and generous spirit that are exactly what Ash and his little girl, Syd, need. Sydney is an old soul in the body of a precocious child. She’s quite possibly my favorite part of the book. There are some big personalities in the cast of characters that surround them. I can’t wait to read more about Midnight Cove. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
