About the Author

Born in the Mountains of Western North Carolina, Jen Jones grew up enjoying the sanctuary of the mountains. She began writing poetry as an outlet to express her love of the natural beauty around her.
She later studied History at the University of South Carolina and received a BA in History in 2009. She was also awarded Outstanding Student in history that same year, based on her research and writings on Native American Boarding Schools. Most of her study has been in children's history.

This picture book was written as she watched the 39th Annual Inter-tribal Pow Wow in Cherokee, North Carolina. Watching the generations contribute and invite others to enjoy their traditions.
