As the sheltered princess of Sector One, Maricela's life is defined by duty: to her people and to her family. Her wealth and influence have allowed her to build a better world, but they come with a price---the responsibility to secure political stability with a practical marriage. Maricela cherishes the idea of marrying for love, but there's not much romance in the endless line of suitors interested only in prestige and power.

And her handsome, brooding new bodyguard isn't helping the situation.

Ivan is the perfect, deadly warrior, a man trained from childhood to be the ultimate protector to the Rios family. His focus on keeping her safe is intense--and a little intoxicating. When the threat of danger cracks his icy control, Maricela realizes she's not the only one fighting against temptation.

Ivan knows that the blood on his hands makes him unworthy of the pure-hearted princess. But from the first kiss, their forbidden affair feels inevitable. He can give her a glimpse of life outside her gilded cage and a lover who wants the woman instead of the crown. The only thing he can never do is promise her forever.

Because spurning her noble suitors to marry her bodyguard wouldn't just be a scandal. It could set off a political firestorm that would tear Sector One apart.

This series just keeps getting better and better! Ivan was an exciting and sizzling tale of forbidden love, and I enjoyed every moment of it from start to finish. But how could I not when a soldier, whom has pledged his very life to the Rios family, falls helplessly in love with the much coveted Rios princess when his duty forbids it? Now I will caution that this is definitely one of those slow to burn types of love stories, but I do promise you that these two burn bright once they give in to the temptation. Their love story kind of made me think of all of the regency books I've read with the girl being expected to marry for the benefit of the family. I honestly think that's why I enjoyed it so much, being the regency nut that I am, but this world is very far removed from that time period in every other aspect and that made me like it even more! Now Ivan has always been the quiet and lethal man fully dedicated to overcoming the ghosts of the past, even when it wasn't his wrongs that needed to be overcome. He's lived an incredibly rough life, but he's found a home with the Riders where he can serve Gideon and his family. He never expected to find love, but he deserves it more than I think any of the Riders. And poor Maricela...I truly felt for her. She is being pulled in all different directions by her family and her political duty to the people. It is all taking a far greater toll on her than she allows anyone to realize, that is until Ivan becomes her bodyguard. He notices the real weight she carries and what a burden it is on her, and decides to make it his mission to help her reclaim a bit of happiness for herself. It's truly sweet the way he tries to show her a bit of freedom to be herself. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I think you guys might as well if you love this world like I do. I also can't wait for more of the riders to on fall in love, because I think they deserve that happiness before they sacrifice themselves for duty and honor for the Rios family.

Book 3 of the Gideon’s Riders series brings us back to Sector One. There are still genetically engineered enemies with evil intent. There are strong warriors whose duty is to protect the sector at all costs. There are equally strong women who are trying to make life better for Sector residents and the refugees that resulted from the war with Eden. There are celebrations hosted by the families looking to make political alliances thru marriages. (I heard this party referred to as a "Post-apocalyptic Regency house party".) Ivan has been assigned as Maricela’s bodyguard. He takes his job seriously. Maricela has lived a sheltered life as Gideon’s sister. But Maricela is not innocent as she appears. She is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves. Sector One takes death seriously. When a Rider kills someone, they have a raven tattooed on their body. Maricela has a raven tattoo. Maricela has never been to Eden, so Ivan takes her sightseeing. There is also a date in a Sector dive bar. The fights are epic. Unexplained deaths add to the intrigue. Ivan learns to deal with his Mother’s mental issues. In the end, Gideon and his sister Isabella are planning a huge wedding celebration. Heat level is off the charts (in a good way). I think I know who is Gideon's mate. He is tongue tied around her throughout this story. 5 Stars The book was provided by the authors for an honest review

To say I've been anticipating Ivan is quite an understatement, since I've been madly in love with the entire world and set-up of Gideon's Riders since I first picked up Ashwin. Maricela and Ivan had my heart from the opening pages and I love how loyal they both are to the core, with Maricela being the Rios princess who cares deeply about her people and Ivan being rock solid committed to his duty as a Rider. It makes their romance that much sweeter, knowing that they can't help but be drawn to each other in spite of those conflicting circumstances and duties. Maricela struggles with being in the public eye and ever aware of her own image and duties, stifled by expectations and political entanglements, while Ivan is a soldier with a tainted family legacy, even as he struggles with his childhood and the burdens it brings. While the romance is one that made me angst and swoon, what I think makes this book so truly special is the supportive cast that features in this book. Maricela has her brother and her friends, Avery, Nita, and Grace, who all care and worry for her. Ivan has his Riders, who are united by a band of loyalty and trust, as despite the scattered backgrounds they come from. I love seeing how interconnected this family is, and they hold a special place in my heart. One of the most pleasantly surprising things about Ivan was how many scenes there were to get to know some of the later couples. Zeke and Grace are my first favorite of course, but I will admit Nita and Hunter snuck up on me in an unexpected way. It can be a bit daunting knowing there are at least four or five more books to go in this series, but the build-up is always worth it for Kit Rocha and I'm so excited to get each Rider's own story. Ivan is another strong addition to the series and I couldn't help but fall in love even more with the characters in this world the complicated relationships they have with each other. Even though Gideon's Riders does have a large cast, I love that through small scenes and chapters we get to know the supporting characters and also read hints of their eventual romances in later books. At the core, Gideon's Riders is a series about loyalty and trust, the bonds of family and friends, and finding love and acceptance as who you are. All in all, I adored this book. Like, I want to live in this world because it's got a lot of the things I'd want if I were to make my own world and stuff. It gave me everything I wanted out of a bodyguard/guarded person romance.

Review: This is the third book about Sector One and Gideon's Riders.Where we have forbidden lovers Ivan and Maricela and their love story. I am going to try to not give a lot away. If you have read the other books by Kit Rocha, you will love this one. We get to see old and new characters from all the sectors in this story. I loved that Ivan and Maricela go out into the sectors and the Authors showed us what the others sectors are like. I like Ivan and Maricela as a couple, both are smart, strong and warriors, but there is more below the surface. I liked how their pasts and obligations added tension to the story. Theirs is a rough road to a HEA. Like all the other books in both series, there is love, loss, action, intrigue and red-hot sexy scenes. This is adult dystopian and it is my favorite of that genre. I really want Gideon's story!!!! I am going to repeat myself from other reviews but, if this is your first time picking up this series...Stop! Go back and start with Beyond Shame, the first in the Beyond series. Really you don't have to, but for the full experience and see what leads up to what is going on in this book I would highly recommend it. Plus, they are just so darn good. 4.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the Authors.*

The bodyguard and the princess! Yes! I really enjoyed watching Ivan and Maricela fall in love! It was such a slow, smoldering burn. Oh, how Ivan resisted. But Maricela is not to be denied. I loved that they each gave the other the sense of freedom that was needed. It was wonderful to see Ivan loosen up, fall in love, and take his woman to see parts of the world she hadn't experienced. He saw Maricela in a way that no one did and realized that she need to LIVE, and not just be an object to be possessed and handled. Maricela was so steadfast in her love and belief that Ivan was a good man. Ivan had already suffered so much and felt that he would never be good enough for the princess. Maricela was determined to show him how worthy he was. Their sneaking around added a definite zing to their affair. I loved their trysts and how bossy and rough Ivan would get, giving Maricela exactly what she wanted and needed. And she wasn't afraid to give as good as she got. Mmm. The intrigue that started in previous books was resolved in this book, and it was surprise I didn't see coming. The storylines are always so well written and developed. I love Kit Rocha just as much for their "story telling" as I do for their characters and steamy sex! As always, I'm really looking forward the reading about the next Rider to fall head over heels in love!

A wonderful love story, especially so with Ivan being such a stiff, quiet, emotionless person. This series is so different than the Beyond series but great in its own way. Pick up copies of all Kit's books, you won't be dissapointed. Enjoy.

Kit Rocha does it again! I’ve been reading Kit’s books since early days, and when we moved from Sector 4 (the Beyond series), I was convinced I could never love Sector 1 as much, but with this second book in the Gideon’s Riders series I was proven dead wrong. A slow burn (so many longing looks and glancing touches!) built up to an explosive finish. The classic princess and her knight (bodyguard) story takes on new life here and the payoff is fantastic. Great character development. Kit really hit it out of the park with this one. (There are s lot of characters in play here, so I do recommend reading book one in this series, “Ashwin,” first.)

Wow! Kit Rocha has done it again…I loved this book! Not that I’m surprised, because reading Kit Rocha’s books is so comfortably easy – the writing is excellent (no distractions from spelling, grammar, or word use errors), and the stories just pull you in. I love that I can picture the people and the settings, I can hear the sounds and feel immersed in the experience. It takes a special writer to do this, and the team that is Kit Rocha is amazingly adept at building this world and the characters in it. In the newest book in the Gideon’s Riders series, not only did we get to watch Ivan’s and Maricela’s relationship grow and develop, but, all the while, we learned more about the other Riders (whose stories I can’t wait to read). I enjoyed the various perspectives in the book – in one chapter, I could look into Maricela’s thoughts and understand her reactions, then in the next chapter, I could do the same with Ivan. Interspersed in their story were chapters viewed from the perspective of other characters, so not only did I learn about Maricela and Ivan from their own perspective, but I also learned about them from these other characters…along with the added bonus of learning a little bit about those characters themselves (which will make their stories that much richer when they get told). As for the story itself, Maricela and Ivan are both weighed down by the expectations people have of them (and that they have of themselves), and this book is all about them learning how to reconcile their own happiness with those expectations. I love the realness of their feelings and their interactions with the people around them. I love the sense of family and that ultimately, even though it isn’t always easy, their happiness is what is most important.

I was sent a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review, but all thoughts are my own. Here we are again with another Kit Rocha book in the Beyond spin-off series. At the risk of sounding a little redundant, I have to say, most of my opinions for this book have been carried over from the previous two in the this series and the entire original series that preceded it. To start, I have to say, I didn't love this one. Was it the worst book of all of Kit Rocha's work? No. But, in my opinion, it's far from the best. Now part of that is just me and my personal dislike for family drama soap opera types of dynamics. Drama and danger is good, but I don't love it when there's this very "Days of Our Lives" feel to it like I was getting from here. I think it's a really difficult storyline to craft and usually it falls a little flat for me. Added on to the fact that I felt like the characters' personal demons were definitely being narrated in a more "tell not show" sort of way that made them feel a little flat and under-developed, and that it took (MINOR SPOILERS) nearly half of the book for the romance to really boil over and then after that it felt rushed to fit the pattern of all the other books (which I've complained about in the past before, a bit) I struggled a little to get through this. I still enjoyed the book, but if I had the choice to re-read this or one of the beyond books, I'd go with the latter. This series is a little rocky for me but I'm optimistic that Kit will start knocking out those great, fast-paced reads that we've all come to love, and if I seem like I'm being a little harsh, it's only because I know how good these books can be because there's an entire other series that was (mostly) home-runs. For me, though, this one didn't quite reach the bar the author has set in the past.

4.5 * for this visit to Sector One! I really loved seeing Ivan and Maricela together ( the slow burn sexual tension is killer) and as always, the extra POV chapters are really insightful ( and give story hints on what will come)! There are some exciting action scenes as well as more of the politics and secrets of the Rios family and other noble families of Sector One. The equal empowerment of women in these stories is fabulous and gives me hope. My minor quibble is that I need a character flow chart to keep everyone straight! Even having read the original series and this one, I still get confused as to who is related to whom, and there are a LOT of characters, with more being introduced all the time. On the plus side if it means more stories in this world I will take it in compensation. Super excited for the next two stories revealed, and definitely wanting and hoping for more!

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Not much!!! I absolutely loved this book, as I have every book in this series and the preceding series. I loved the slow build between Maricela and Ivan, they way they held back because of the expectations in their lives. I loved the inevitability of their love, even with those expectations. And, maybe most of all, I loved the utter happiness they gave each other. Theirs wasn't an easy path to take but I loved that they finally found the courage to see where it might lead. All that being said, there were a lot of side relationships in this book that could be hard for some to follow. I know I was confused now and then. But if you've read the other books in the series it's not impossible to keep up. And this is definitely my favorite book of this series to date. Although... Hunter's book is next and that might just top it!!!

I love this world! Everything about it! I thought this book was just a little bit wordy, however, I was still sucked into Sector One regardless. I like seeing the dynamics in play from all of the leaders/family. Maricela got to blossom into a woman right in front of her siblings eyes while Ivan got to experience emotion. For me it almost had a Romeo & Juliet quality to it. I'm so excited to see the next book, the next paring, and the downfall of Gideon's bachelorhood. If you like post-apocalyptic stories - READ THIS SERIES!

This is one of those times that I've started a book thinking meh, I'm not really fussed about these two characters but love the author so I'll give it a go. In all series I think we all have characters that we can't wait to read about and others that were not so fussed about. I was very much like that about Maricela, she wasn't a character I was desperate to get too. I was very surprised by just how much I loved her. She was full of depth and much more than she seemed to be in previous sightings of her. She's got the weight of Sector One on her shoulders and seemed to be drowning in everyone's else's need to make a political marriage. It's so easy to make a judgement about someone without really understanding the life they lead. She's a very caring person, warm and welcoming. She needed to find someone to see her for herself, not the title she holds. Ivan is the brooding alpha Rider warrior perfect for the job. He's got his own demons to confront but they seemed to be the perfect antidote to each other's worries. Loyal to the core, it's a real struggle for him to let go and embrace his feelings for Maricela. His sense of duty to Gideon and his fellow Riders has always been his top priority so it was fun to see him succumb They've got red hot chemistry, those scenes were scorchingly hot! We got little snippets of other characters which gave us a good insight into future books, the plot although quite simple in terms of timespan and events, had a lot going on in terms of bringing the story arc forward. We meet a few new characters which should bring some interesting times ahead. Each book expands this universe and while we got a few answers this time we're left with a few more. It's a really good story and I'm looking forward to the next one.

***5 Stars*** I seriously love this world. I do. It’s not complicated in any way, it just feels so real to me, like it’s an actual place I’d want to visit and play in, and I love being able to spend a few hours hanging out with the characters ~ no matter which series they come from ~ and learning new things about it and boy do some new things come to light in Ivan! But first...Ivan and Maricela. It was hard not to love these two, separately and together. They both struggle with the expectations that are placed on them simply because of the blood that runs through their veins and while it does weigh heavily on both of them, they actually want to live up to those expectations. They respect their positions in the Sector and understand why things are the way they are...and yet they wish there was a little more wiggle room at times. But that version of Ivan and Maricela are those of the Rider and the Princess, the man and woman who live beneath the titles, aren’t necessarily all that different, but a little more relaxed and their true personalities come out to play as their relationship grows and becomes more than either expected. They fight the good fight for awhile and I really enjoyed the slow burn aspect because I got to see that they were friends and truly cared about each other on a deeper level than simply physical attraction or because of their positions. But once they finally gave in, and not only in the smexy sense ~ though that was hot ~ all bets were off and there was only one outcome could work for both of them. Of course certain issues do spring up in the course of their journey, but I loved how everything worked out for them in the end. Now, I know I’ve said this in every review I’ve done for the Beyond series and the Gideon’s Riders series, but it has to be said. I love the family dynamic that is always present in this series. The bantering, snarkyness and just all around being up in each other business is something I totally enjoy and this one has it in spades. I also liked getting a better idea of the political side of Sector One and all the little intrigues that go on when it comes to the royal and noble families. As far as the Riders are concerned I don’t have a clear favorite because they are all so intriguing to me (though Ashwin is still all KINDS of awesomeness), but I loved spending more time with Laurel (Six is still my absolute fav when it comes to the women in this world, but Laurel could give her some competition) but there was one little section that had me sitting up and going “Ooooohhhhh” I need more of that backstory, like, yesterday! So, needless to say, I loved and adored Ivan as a whole. The romance was well done, the angst was low, and I loved spending time with all the characters and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series! ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~

Gideon’s Rider’s are back!!!! Honestly, I am a big fan of Kit Rocha and everything that they write and I really enjoyed the previous two books of the series and was really looking forward to Ivan and Maricela’s story. And let me just say that it turned out far better than what I had hoped for. I just love love love the premise of the heroine and her bodyguard. On a side note - I love the Eleanor and Jasper storyline on The Royals- so this was right up my alley. The forbidden, the allure, the secrecy, the stolen glances and moments and the ever intense yearning make this story a true feast for any romance fan. Maricela Rios is the princess of Sector One. She has been brought up pure and divine and knows her duty to her family and people. She needs to make the perfect alliance through marriage- no matter what her heart tells her. But how is she to ignore to constant sizzle that she feels every time she is around Ivan? Even the thought of having a lover with his constant presence right outside her door is enough to make her sick. So what or who will she pick? Her duty to her family and people? Or give into temptation and be with the man who has become her heart and soul? Ivan Wolff has had to live with the shame that his uncles brought to his family while also trying to hold onto the legacy of his heroic father. It hasn’t been easy for him to show people that he is not a traitor like his uncles but a loyal servant to the Rios family like his father. But his job of protecting the princess is much more difficult than it seems as he is finding it increasingly difficult to keep his distance from her. Even though he knows that the mere thought of living anything carnal with her is on the verge of blasphemy, he can’t seem to listen to reason. Especially when Maricela is just as eager to live out this fantasy as he is. Another hot and exciting novel by the creative genius duo Bree and Donna or as they are better known - Kit Rocha! Can’t wait to see how Hunter, Gabe, Reyes and of course the king of the sector himself, Gideon find their happily ever after!!! Thanks to Kit Rocha for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
