Vel is always stuck between identities. Mixed race and mixed faith means he is both all and none of the above at once. At the very least, the witchery learned from his mother allows him unique perspectives on strange cases- until he is spiraling with grief. Haunted by a beast with no rational explanation, Vel becomes obsessed with solving the case that took his loved one and threatens to take him too.
