Overview

Signing with Brighthouse Records was supposed to be everything we ever wanted--our better life. Our chance at everything we never had but always wanted. All our dreams would finally come true and we were on top of the world. It was our chance at the happiness we never had in life.

Our every desire was at our fingertips and the power of that feeling was all consuming. But then it took every dream we thought would come true and it slapped us in the face with the cold hard reality.

Dreams were just that...something that floated on the cusp of untouchable, taunting you with every graze of your fingertips before slipping even further away.

Happiness...that feeling is a joke.

In the end it became painfully obvious that each of us would always have each other, but we would forever be alone.

Jaded Hearts will kick off the Loaded Replay series - which will be a series of interconnected standalones. The cast and crew of Jaded Hearts was introduced to us for the first time briefly in Unexpected Fate. You do not need to read that book in order to fully enjoy Jaded Hearts. Happy reading!

Where do I start? Harper Sloan had me engrossed from the first to the last page. I loved this book and what a great way to start off a new series. Since I heard about this book I have been looking forward to reading it. I was intrigued by Chance when he was first introduced in the Hope Town series as Cohen’s roommate and I was excited to see what story Ms. Sloan had in store for him; I wasn’t disappointed. Wrenlee (Wren) Davenport is the lead singer of one of the biggest bands around, Loaded Replay and is slowly but surely becoming more and more disillusioned with the life she is leading. Overcoming a difficult and hard childhood the 4 friends have created a successful career in the music business, but for Wren she is dissatisfied. When threats to Wren become more and more concerning, the band members (including her twin brother Wes) are determined to keep her safe and hire private bodyguards instead of using the ones that their record company supplies. This is where, Chance Nash comes in, he is a member of Corps Security and is hired to head the team to protect the band and to be Wren’s personal bodyguard. Chance fell for Wren 3 years before he met her after taking Dani to a concert when Cohen was overseas, there was just something about her that got to him, however when he begins his job he is determined to keep his feelings buried, but he didn’t count on the full force of hurricane Wren. From the moment Wren and Chance meet the sparks fly and their attraction sizzles. It wasn’t only the sexual tension and the chemistry between Wren and Chance that had me so riveted (and le t me say there is plenty of hot and heavy scenes) but their obvious camaraderie and banter towards each other too. These two were just made for each other. Jaded Hearts is about a family, not all related by blood, but family none the less. I loved how much they cared and supported each other; they reminded me of the Four Musketeers, one for all and all for one. Both Chance and Wren have baggage, can they work through their pasts and move along a path of happiness together? Can Chance keep Wren safe from the threats or will history repeat itself? You’ll just have to take a chance (pun intended) and read this book for yourself. There was a great deal of humour throughout this book between all the members of the band and I think that really made this a great read. I cannot wait to read the other band members stories and I was excited to learn that Jamison’s story is the next book in the series.

Harper Sloan launches her rocker romance series, Loaded Replay, with Jaded Hearts. A of tall, dark and broody bodyguard Chance Nash and sex rock star goddess Wrenlee Davenport. Worried about her safety after intercepting a stalker note and pictures, Wrenlee’s brother and bandmates compel her to hire a bodyguard who would protect her under the guise of a boyfriend due to their label’s nonsense contract clauses. Being on top of the world and achieving everything she ever dreamed of doesn’t fill the void Wren feels. She has her twin brother and two other bandmates but loneliness and absence of love is daunting. And now on top of the lack of time off, she’s being forced to clip her wings of freedom by having the very attractive but sullen Chance around ALL. THE. TIME. Deciding to at least have some fun with this, she not only flirts and tempts him, she also taunts the paparazzi with a fake marriage and baby rumors. Forced to be together Wren and Chance face their insecurities, their pasts and give into their attraction. Can they find a way to give their budding relationship a chance amidst all the mayhem that surrounds them? Wren and Chance are equally loveable characters. She’s not only caring, fun and fearsome, she’s humble despite the fame and fortune. Chance is all swoony alpha, protective, thoughtful and oh so sexy and I loved that him being part of Corps Security gave me the opportunity to catch up with some of the old gang. Wren and Chance’s sexy times are smoking hot laced with sweet passion and a rock backdrop with vibrant concert scenes that jump off the page and charismatic band member who I can’t wait to get to know better. Jaded Hearts is book #1 of the Loaded Replay series by Harper Sloan. It is standalone contemporary rocker romance that made me laugh, smile and swoon with rock star goodness. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

4.5 Stars! “My little black jaded heart keeps searching. Searching for what I’m beginning to think is impossible to find. Someone who isn’t trying to gain something by knowing us. Someone who can be my gain in life…the tangible thing that can anchor me to the ground and prove that everything we’ve overcome hasn’t been for nothing. Someone who reminds me I’m more than just a pretty face. Someone who makes me want to believe the lyrics we write. Until then, we’re just little fish circling the fishbowl, praying to see the ocean again.” Harper Sloan, you have done it again. Just when I think I can’t love another story or series more, you have to give me another amazing series. I honestly don’t know how she does it. She could write a phone book and I’d have to read it because somehow, she would make a phone book amazing. That is just how much I love her writing. Jaded Hearts was one of my most anticipated releases of 2016, and let me tell you, it does not disappoint. This story is incredibly well written and entertaining as hell. From the moment you pick up this book, you are captivated by Wren’s story and just have to know more. She is not your typical musician. She is very real and raw. She isn’t afraid to express herself and just wants people to know who she really is. She hasn’t let fame go to her head and I really admired that in her. Chance was everything and I mean everything that I could have wanted for Wren. There connection was instant and intense, and it worked sooooo well. Their chemistry and banter was so exciting. I loved seeing the two of them interact. And even though they shared an instant connection, you could tell that their love and their feelings were very real. Jaded Hearts was an amazing read, from beginning to end. I devoured this book in just one sitting. I loved the story-line and the characters. I really enjoyed the relationship that Wren had with her brother and their band members. I loved how well they all got along and how tight they were together. I loved their humor and was thoroughly entertained the entire time. Jaded Hearts is the first book in the exciting new series from Harper Sloan. This story hit all the marks for me. It was sexy, fun and full of laughter. And while there was some drama, it was handled pretty quickly and for the most part, was pretty light. It was just overall an enjoyable read and I am super excited to see where this story will go next and who’s story will be told!

JADED HEARTS is the first installment in Harper Sloan’s contemporary, adult LOADED REPLAY erotic, rock romance series focusing on the members of the band Loaded Replay. This is lead singer Wrenlee ‘Wren’ Davenport, and thirty one year old security specialist Chance Nash’s story line. LOADED REPLAY is a spin off from Harper’s Corps Security and Hope Town series. Told from dual first person perspectives (Wren and Chance) LOADED REPLAY follows the band as they embark on their final tour for Brighthouse Records, and the threats against our story line heroine. Following Loaded Replay’s most recent concert appearance a threatening letter and personal images of Wren Davenport surfaced forcing the band to hire their own personal security. Enter Chance Nash from Corps Security, and the man with whom Wren would fall in love. Chance Nash is all about protecting his charge but his first meeting with Wren Davenport finds our story line hero immediately smitten and falling in love. Wren’s attraction to Chance is off the charts and she isn’t afraid to make her feelings known. JADED HEART’s story of insta-love finds our leading couple in a ‘fake relationship’ scenario when the band’s recording company refuses to accept Chance Nash as Wren’s personal security. The attraction between Wren and Chance is immediate but Chance struggles with duty before personal life, and in this Chance tries but fails miserably to view Wren as his employer to his employee. Wren continues to push at Chance at every opportunity until our story line hero succumbs to the desire and demands of his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive. We are introduced to the other members of the band: Wren’s twin brother Weston Davenport; drummer Jamison Clark, and guitarist Luke Madden; Wren’s best friend and stylist Dyllan who may or may not be in a relationship with Jamison Clark; as well as the band’s manager from Brighthouse Records Dix, roadie Kellie, and journalist Casey Brookes. The world building takes the reader on tour with Loaded Replay-behind the scenes, onto the stage, and up close and personal with the members of the band. There is a bit of a twist to the story line conflict when the truth about the threats against Wren are revealed. JADED HEARTS is an energetic story line about two people pushed together by circumstance and necessity. The heartwarming romance is a case of insta-love; the conflict is all but forgotten for most of the story; the happily ever after will be passionate and dynamic. The premise is captivating; the characters are heartwarming; the romance is fated and intense. Harper Sloan adds another fun and sensual addition to her popular romance series.

Harper Sloan once again succeeds in making me fall head over heels in love with her characters. Jaded Hearts is somewhat of a spinoff of her Hope Town series. It explores Chance's story (he's Cohen's best friend) as he works security for one of the hotted bands, Loaded Replay. Chance and Wrenlee (the frontwoman for Loaded Reply) hit it off in epic fashion, and as such the tabloid take the story and run with it. They'r engaged. They're married. They're expecting. Typical tabloid BS. But what started out as a rouse very quickly develops into something both Wren and Chance were never expecting, but somehow feels oh so perfect. Per usual you can expect high levels of angst, and pure ecstasy between the pages of Ms. Sloan's latest awe-inspiring novel. But what you can also expect is a new twist on the rock band love series that will make you wholeheartedly fall for every member and lust after there forthcoming stories. Wren and Chance melt into one another, and thus your heart as well. I couldn't get enough of them, and want so much more! I'll be waiting with bated breath for Jamison's story and Wes' and Luke's as well. Those men are hotter than sin, but they'll have to bring their A-Game to steal me away from Team Chance! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Harper Sloan did it again, and I'm not surprised. I loved the introduction of Chance in Unexpected Fate and I'm beyond thrilled Chance now has his story told. The chemistry between Chance and Wrenlee is explosive to say the least. Wrenlee is such a powerful character in this book, slightly flawed, but wonderfully strong all the same. Jaded Hearts is the perfect title for their story. Both Wrenlee and Chance have pasts that have hurt them and left them unsure whether to trust again. The path these two find themselves on is unconventional, but so entertaining. I am so looking forward the next book of the Loaded Relay series!

From the first page of this book, I was instantly connected to Wrenlee. Her voice just pulled me into her story and I was totally invested from the start. Wren is the face of Loaded Replay, an imminently successful musical group (which you might remember from Unexpected Fate). From the very start, we see her battling herself not only to find the happiness which she had previously found in her musical ventures, but we are introduced to her vulnerability concerning the people in her life. She has felt used by so many people, that she doesn’t believe that anyone outside her tight-knit group of friends wants HER. “I should feel bad for Prince Charming. My knight in tarnished armor. Because he’ll have one giant battle on his hands to make me believe that someone might be left out there who doesn’t just want a piece of me.” Enter Chance. Brought in to lead a security team to protect the band, he immediately realizes this job is going to be harder than he imagined. “For the first time in almost ten years, I was about to set myself up to give someone else the power over me. And I would be powerless to stop it.” He had seen Wren perform at a show and was drawn to her. I mean, who isn’t drawn to Wren - she’s beautiful AND crazy talented with her voice - but this was more. Normally, I don’t get too sucked into any stories that have super instant “connections,” but this seemed so real to me. These two characters, both fighting their own battles, recognize something in each other. The beauty of this story, for me, is not simply in the blossoming of love, but for the rebuilding of two souls. Chance and Wren are both people who have hearts that deserve love, for all the love they give to their friends. Each of them had been used, lied to, or cheated on. Each of these incidents took a piece of their soul, rendering them to existing, rather than truly living. For Wren, she has lost faith in people and lost sight of the beauty in her music. Chance lives so far distant from people, that he only keeps one truly close friend. To see these two come to peace with their pasts, repair their hurt, and forge a brand new future … that was a thing of pure beauty. “We’re going to destroy each other and then put the pieces back together, so there aren’t any more cracks.” Her words, confusing to many, show me just how well Wrenlee has pegged me. As for the rest of the band, and their close friends, SO MUCH LOVE. Each of these characters has a distinct personality and brought something unique to the story. Characters make the story for me, and I absolutely wanted to jump into this story and be a part of this family of friends. I wish I could’ve let you into my head as I was reading, so you could experience all the feels I had while going through this story (I have way too many highlighted quotes). Wren is probably one of the top ten female characters, for me, that I’ve read. If you don’t read this story, you’re missing out. It’s not about love, it’s not about the rock-n-roller lifestyle, it’s about finding what makes your life whole and putting back together what has been broken.

Jaded Hearts by Harper Sloan I had the biggest reading slump of my life before this book came into my life because the moment I started reading it I just couldn't stop reading, I think I only stopped to sleep and even then I woke up and went back to reading. Harper Sloan delivers a heartfelt book with all the aspects that I love about her writing and this time around she brings us a female rock star who's jaded by all the people that have tried to take advantage of her in the past she also brings us a very hot, overprotective alpha male that has all the right words to have us melting in an instant. Wrenlee and Chance meet when Chance is hired to protect her and her band from all the media attention they are getting during their tour but the moment they meet they feel that sparkle between them and while one is more than willing to explore that connection the other has their reservations. Wrenlee is a strong female character in this book but she is also vulnerable in a very realistic way, when it comes to her career she is an absolute bad as but when it comes to her personal life she still has some insecurities to work through. On the other hand we have Chance who has been hurt in the past and is still carrying some guilt over an event in the past. Together they support each other, they talk through everything and try to make their relationship work for them. The book is full of sexy moments but also is full of love not just from our two protagonists but also love from Wrenlee's band and Chance's friends, I think that is one of the things that I love the most about Harper's books is that the characters not always have a perfect family but they always seem to find that type of love and connection with their friends. I can't wait to read more from this characters, I already have some couples in mind for the next books.
