These are great for storytelling or reading aloud to children or even adults. There is plenty of action to hold their interest  and each tale has a deeper meaning for the listeners to think about. I have told some of these stories many times when I was a children's librarian in New York City and they  always held the attention of my listeners. They are easy to tell because these versions are so beautifully retold in language that is almost poetic in its flow.
