When a bug sleeping on a jug is chased by a frog, he has to jump to get away. But then that frog (who’s sleeping on a log) is in for a similar surprise! He’s attacked by a cat…who needs to jump away from a dog…and on it goes, until not even a shark is free from getting a little fright! Building on repetition that’s fun to read and fun to listen to, Jump! is a rip-roaring, read-aloud with simple rhymes and lively illustrations that leap off the pages.

You can use to teach the food chain to ELL students, also surprise and that there is always something bigger than you.You can use this to teach students rhythm, rhyme, elipses, exclamation, bold words, homonyms, phonemes, repetition, one word endings, onomatopoeia. Teach them how to add surprise to their stories.

Awesome read aloud, a little like the Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly-fly, frog, cat, etc.-all good jumps.

I LOVE this book. The artwork it great. The story is short enough that my 2 yr old doesn't lose interest, but is entertaining. The story is fun to read aloud and has a nice rhythm. Definitely a great book for little ones!

Scott Fischer has created an instant classic with "Jump!" It is totally interactive and has a rhythm that makes it easy to sing to your own improvised song. I believe he wrote it as a song originally. I work with young children and they breathlessly hang on to every word until they hear "jump", at which time they use all the energy they can muster to jump all over the room. The illustrations literally pop off the page, and pre-readers will probably learn to recognize the letters in the word JUMP. There is an old-fashioned, basic quality to this book, but it manages to have a universal appeal to today's child. It would also work in a bilingual situation. Buy it! .... You will not be disappointed.
