La Princesse Jaune is a one-act opÃ(c)ra-comique by Camille Saint-Saëns, with a libretto by Louis Gallet. Composed in 1872, the opera tells the story of a young Dutch woman, LÃ(c)na, who is obsessed with Japanese art and culture. Her cousin, Koël, is in love with her, but LÃ(c)na is more interested in her collection of Japanese prints and artifacts. Through a series of comical events, Koël tries to win LÃ(c)na's affection by pretending to be a Japanese prince.
