Fashion buyer Shea Walker had a fast track lifestyle until a car accident sidelines her
to a painful recovery. Seeking quiet for the holidays, Shea returns to the
snowy mountains where she grew up to make peace with her past and spend time
with her estranged family. She never expected J.C. Royce--now a hockey
star--would return to their hometown, too. Determined to avoid that particular
sexy mistake, she's caught off guard when her first night in town brings them
face to face.

Seeing Shea practically fall at his feet is gratifying, until J.C. realizes his proud
former friend, who he once thought would become a whole lot more, is truly
hurt--and in more ways than she lets on. Lucky for Shea, he's got a big house
just sitting empty and a tree ready to decorate, as she is in no shape to stay
by herself. With his bad boy arrogance down to an art form after eight years in
the NHL, J.C. is more than a match for feisty Shea. Especially when it comes to
her outrageous claim that there was never any chemistry between them...

But when it comes to convincing her to stick around town until the New Year, he
just might need a Christmas miracle.

Shea and CJ were high school friends who liked each other but went their separate ways. He signed a pro hockey contact and she went to college. Now 10 years later they meet again. Will they reconnect and give them a second chance? Well written story with strong and believable characters. Cute Christmas story. joy943

Joanne Rock wrote a quick, very short story. She wrote a very short story about a woman who wanted a different life. Her father loved hockey, and he wanted his daughter to be his replacement. He pushed her, and pusbed her to excell in hockey, despite her own wishes. She loved her boyfriend, who was her father's top player. Shea made plans to go to college in the city. Her beau cheated her. He decided to play hocky professionally, and did not reveal his plans. He became a big star, and she left him behind. The story is bluntly sexual and all he wants is to have sex... over and over. He did not allow her a choice. Like her father, he forces her to do what he wanted, instead of being honest and forthright! He was determined to do as he pleed. I found the story disappointing because there was so much more things to write about to enhance the storyline. I would have preferred a story where her father had more participation. I felt angry that her mother did not support her daughter in her pursuit of her own dreams!!! I do not recommend this story, or this author.

4 stars — I’m a fan of second chance romances…I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s just satisfying to see people grow from who they were when they were younger and fix the mistakes of their youth. And that was definitely the case with this book. Sure, they had their struggles and they almost fell into old patterns, but I got the satisfaction I was after by the time the book was finished. I wasn’t sure about Shea at first…she was filled up with a lot of resentment and holding REALLY HARD onto grudges from her past. But as we get to know her, know her past, it makes sense for who she is. She doesn’t make excuses for those character traits, but she does eventually try to do better, which I really appreciate. I honestly expected something much different from the blurb, the fact that she’s hurt from the accident doesn’t play that much into the story. It was more about reconciling with her past. JC was almost too good to be true…luckily he made some bad choices to prove he’s actually human. He was sweet, thoughtful, encouraging, supportive…very easy going. His personality definitely made him swoonworthy. And the two of them together definitely had some great chemistry…both in the steamy moments, but also just in the fun flirting moments as well. In the end it was a fast read, and probably a fast resolution, but it works for Christmas books, you know?

Beautiful This was nice to have two people who grew up together but ended up parting ways when he came to college and career. Shea's dad couldn't understand her job so she hadn't been home in awhile. Now she was home after a accident and loss of job. J. C. Was home due to concussion. Can they find as a spark.

Shea Walker goes home for Christmas and finds her parents have left for their dream vacation in Hawaii. JC Royce is also back in town and he is nursing yet another concussion, unsure when he will get back to his hockey teammates. When JC rounds the corner and finds Shea standing in the driveway of her parent’s house, he can’t believe his eyes. Shea on the other hand doesn’t seem as happy to see him. JC can’t blame her though, due to how they left each other 10 years earlier. Can a second chance be in their future? Can Shea forgive JC for the past? I enjoy hockey so this was a fun read! Heartwarming, sweet, happy tears, everything that makes for a lovely story! I recommend adding this to your must read list!

I enjoy stories with second chances. Then you throw in Christmas and cookies and I am a happy camper. Shea is injured from a car accident, lost her job and it's almost Christmas. She does what anyone in that position would, she goes home to her parents house. However, when she gets there, they are not there but her ex J.C. is and he is just as sexy now as he was years ago. Oh my! I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is about a second chance at love during Christmas time for 2 people who had a teenage romance, but ultimately ended up going their different ways. I happen to love Christmas romances, and second chance at love stories; in fact I just finished a book very similar to this one, I could read tons of these books and not be tired of this scenario, so I really enjoyed this book. Shea is returning to her hometown to hopefully rebuild her relationship with her parents; her dad wasn't happy with her career choice, and J.C. is back in town because he is on leave from his job as a pro hockey player due to a concussion. Shea and J.C. have never really forgotten about each other, but there are some hurt feelings between the two, so reconnecting is a bit difficult. Shea and J.C. have some really cute moments together, and they do have some sexy time, but I liked that they do other things too, and I enjoyed their chemistry with each other. I liked that J.C. really put himself out there for Shea, and how he helped Shea out with her injuries. The sauna and spa scenes were spicy, and I liked the banter between J.C. and Shea. I liked how the ending worked out, but I would have liked an epilogue. I liked the writing in this book, so I'll definitely check out more from Joanne Rock.

Fun and steamy Christmas story, with lots of hockey, mending fences, and building new relationships with family and loved ones. Shea and J.C has a hurtful past, that they both have done their best to forget and move on from, after all, it has been a decade. But now, face to face again, all those feelings are coming up an out again, maybe even stronger than before. The scenes between J.C and Shea are full of banter and play, but you can hear the old insecurities and pain under some of the remarks. The attraction comes in full force, and they are not shy about acting on it. As they are trying to make a peace with their past, to be able to move on, they end up building a new relationship, one that even might help to have a new start between Shea and her parents. Christmas shopping, old friends, Christmas tree that never quite gets decorated, broken bones and hurt heads as well hearts, are all healing during this delightful, romantic, and sentimental Christmas story of the hockey town in Vermont ~ Four Spoons

Last Chance Christmas by Joanne Rock After an accident, Shea Walker returns home to make peace with her family for the holidays. Upon her arrival, she bumps into her ex-boyfriend and current NHL star J.C. Royce. I like Shea. I think it is noble that she wants to reconcile with her family. J.C. is home for the holidays after time off from a concussion. I do not condone his lying to Shea, but I appreciate his reason for it. I like that he is persistent. He is a good guy who gives back to his home town. Shea and J.C. have great chemistry, despite Shae wanting to deny it. Neither are completely up front with each other, which makes them both very human and believable. I love J.C. Christmas present to Shea. It was very clever. Joanne Rock created a well-written and heartwarming story that is perfect for the holidays. This was an enjoyable story that was hard to put down. Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute little story. Shea goes back to her hometown of Cloud Spin for Christmas, to try to get a fresh start with her family. But her family is out of town for the holidays, and she runs into J.C., her high school sweetheart who (from her view anyway) chose hockey over a future with her. She holds a grudge like a champ too. I liked the town atmosphere. The rest of the residents seemed really nice. The chemistry between J.C. and Shea was great too. There's still a bit of tension in her family, so it might be fun to get another story about this town and these characters.

Shea Walker hasn’t had the best of luck lately. She is still recovering from a car accident and she recently lost her job. She hasn’t spent Christmas with her parents in a while, so she decides to make the long drive from New York City to Cloud Spin Vermont to surprise them. But the surprise is on her. When Shea arrives, she finds the house dark, no Christmas decorations and no one there to welcome her with open arms. Professional hockey player JC Royce is surprised when he finds Shea at her parents’ house while he is working on the ice rink on their property. What is she doing there when her parents have gone to Hawaii for Christmas? JC isn’t going to let Shea get away from him this time. They both have unfinished business with each other. So, JC keeps it a secret that he doesn’t have the key to her parents’ house in order to get Shea to stay with him. The reunion is going great between Shea and JC until Shea finds out JC withheld the fact that he had a key to her parents’ house and she could have been staying there. Will Shea let this small deception ruin what they have gained over the last couple days; especially when she is making plans to move back home and open a store? How far will JC go to keep Shea in his life this time? I was pulled into this story from the start. I really liked JC and Shea and the descriptions of the town of Cloud Spin were easy to picture. There were small areas with different characters, but not so many to take attention off the main characters. I like that fact because sometimes authors have so many characters it’s hard to keep everyone straight. I would love to read more books like this.
