Launch out into the deep

The context of the above verse from the book of Joshua is in reference to the time the Israelites had come closer to their promised land and began to camp outside Canaan. As they overlooked the fertile land soon-to-be their country, God showed them the most influential city of Jericho. It was a fortified city with thick walls that surrounded it. Those thick walls protected the city from the enemy's attack. In order for Israel to take possession of the land, Jericho had to be destroyed.
