Lawrence Centore Sr. was convicted in the 1968 murder of small time hoodlum Antonio "Tony Tash" Veneiro. The body of the victim was found in Hastings on Hudson but the slaying wasn't resolved for another seventeen years. In 1984 Centore Sr.'s son, Lawrence Jr., was denied gas licensing for two Westchester County service stations formerly operated by Mobil Oil. The licensing dilemma continued for months, following debate by Westchester executive and board members.
