Overview

Legion (Talon Saga Series #4) by Julie Kagawa

The legions will be unleashed, and no human, rogue dragon or former dragonslayer can stand against the coming horde in book four of New York Times bestselling author Julie Kagawa’s remarkable Talon Saga.

Dragon hatchling Ember Hill was never prepared to find love at all—dragons do not suffer human emotions—let alone with a human, and a former dragonslayer at that. With ex-soldier of St. George Garret dying at her feet after sacrificing his freedom and his life to expose the deepest of betrayals, Ember knows only that nothing she was taught by dragon organization Talon is true—about humans, about rogue dragons, about herself and what she’s capable of doing and feeling.

In the face of great loss, Ember vows to stand with rogue dragon Riley against St. George and her own twin brother, Dante—the heir apparent to all of Talon, and the boy who will soon unleash the greatest threat and terror dragonkind has ever known. Talon is poised to conquer the world, and the abominations they have created will soon take to the skies, darkening the earth with the promise of blood and death to those who will not yield.

I didn't think that I could be more excited about the next book. So far this has been a rollercoster and I don't want it to stop! I highly recomend to anyone who still loves the thought of dragons being real.

The twins are finally pitted against each other in a battle that will determine the fate of all the rogues and the Order. This is a great chapter in Ember’s journey to discover her true self.

Because of the way the last book ended, it's practically impossible to review this book without spoilers. Let's just say that the love triangle was finally put to rest in this book, but it might not be for the reasons you suspect. This book focused a bit more on Dante and gave us flashbacks of Ember and Dante in school---it pretty much established the fact that I'm just not a fan of the backstory chapters in these books. I don't feel like I learned enough to merit these full chapters. I did maybe gain a little more sympathy for Dante, but I still just can't really understand him. Mostly, I want to shake him and tell him to wake up. Still, this book gave us some major revelations that I didn't see coming (though I feel like I've kinda sorta seen before---I still liked them, for the most part). The end of this book ratchets up the excitement and it had me eager for the final book, which I will be picking up any day now!

I LOVE THIS SERIES AND NEED THE FINAL BOOK NOW! “Godzilla was coming...” Legion by Julie Kagawa is the fourth installment in the author’s fantastic Talon paranormal urban fantasy series featuring dragons and dragon slayers. OMG a hundred times over! The story is action-packed, fast-paced, emotional, gripping, shocking, exciting perfection! It is thrilling to the point of being heart-stopping. As in the previous books, Legion is told from the multiple points-of-view of the primary characters allowing readers to become one with the thoughts of each. This is a series that absolutely must be read in order. There’s been so much character and relationship development and detailed build-up for the grand finale that anyone jumping into the series out-of-order would either be lost or not appreciate the exquisiteness of the Talon Saga. Do yourself a huge favor and enjoy this series in order. You won’t regret it! Thankfully, the love triangle that encompassed the first three books has been mostly resolved. Ember has made her choice. The Talon organization is horrible and Dante, Ember’s brother, has been wholly brain-washed by his absolute need to be in control. His allegiance is to the order … period. Will Ember survive? AND, IF she does, will she write her brother off as a lost cause? One thing is for sure. The two dragon twins have drastically opposite moral compasses and sacrifices will unquestionably need to be made. I listened to the audio edition as I have with all of the prior books. I cannot imagine doing anything other than listening to this series as the audios have undeniably enhanced my enjoyment of the series bringing Julie’s amazing story to life. The series started out with three narrators. Tristan joined the original three for the second book. The resulting foursome have been together for the last three books. I really like the multiple narrators for this series. They mesh seamlessly and it is a natural discernment between which character is speaking at any one time. Just know that this tale is an extraordinary stomach-clencher! I actually had to stop the audio numerous times solely to remind myself to breathe. This series gets better with every book and, since every book has been a five star read for me, that’s more than awesome! I love, love, love this series and can’t wait for the finale! While Legion ends with a bit of a cliffhanger as war IS coming, it’s not the type of cliffhanger that is gut-wrenching as Soldier’s was. Thank you, Julie! The concluding book, Legion, features blood red scales on the cover and releases Spring 2018. This series would decidedly equate to a phenomenal movie experience on the big screen. Keeping my fingers crossed that happens! My full review is posted at Reading between the Wines Book Club. Please check it out there!

This book was, in my opinion, just as good as the other Julia has written. I loved the expantion of the complex relationship between the characters. I really hope Julia doesnt listen to the hate these books are getting because of Garrett and adjusts her writting accordingly. Garrett is by far one of the deepest and most complex characters. Most readers are wineing because Ember didnt end up with Riley which I feel was a great decision from the author.

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Teen for the opportunity to read and review the fourth book in the Talon Saga, Legion by Julie Kagawa! This is a perfect addition to the already popular Talon, Rogue and Soldier books with just as much action, intrigue, romance and suspense! Each of the books in the Talon Saga are told from a different character's point of view. Talon is told in Ember's point of view, Rogue is in Riley's and Soldier is told in Garret's point of view. Legion brings back all of the main characters and their points of view, including Dante's. Dante is Ember's brother and has been loyal to the dragon rule all along because he believes he will be the dragon in power someday. At first, he wanted to help his sister succeed and only cared about pleasing their instructors and taking care of her. Then he had an epiphany about the position of power he could be in someday. This changed his entire perspective. The strong, dynamic characters are worth cheering for while the tension builds in this addition to the Talon saga. I didn't see the specific conflict coming and was shocked and appalled at the Elder Wyrm's use for Ember Hill! This book is as amazing as the rest of the series and is suspenseful and intriguing with new mysteries springing up and adding to the un-put-down-ability of the story. 5 stars for characters I love and the building anticipation! I am already anxious for the fifth book in this series and I plan on a complete re-read when the entire series is complete!

Book 4 of 5 in The Talon Saga from New York Times bestselling author Julie Kagawa. Dragon hatchling Ember Hill was never prepared to find love at all--dragons do not suffer human emotions--let alone the love of a human and a former dragon slayer, at that. With ex-soldier Garret dying at her feet after sacrificing his freedom and his life to expose the deepest of betrayals, Ember knows only that nothing she was taught by dragon organization Talon is true. Talon is poised to take over the world, and the abominations they have created will soon take to the skies, darkening the world with the promise of blood and death to those who refuse to yield. My Thoughts Missed out on reading third book so the setup for this 4th book remains a mystery for me, but nonetheless having read first two in the series can clearly see the characters development as well as the escalation toward the last pivotal plot reveal that will finalize the stories arc. Apparently book 3 cemented certainty for Ember and Garrett that their falling in love was not so far fetched as they thought. The other side of the coin however was that Ember’s dragon just happened to be drawn to Riley, for a very good reason it turned out which was explored in more detail in this 4th book. In book 4 the love triangle was also explored more fully, the action scenes were more violent, the character development was even more realized, the different plot arcs entwined more strongly and most important the truths about why Ember Hill has always been so important to the future of Talon are finally explained with some pertinent details. (view spoiler) Know for sure that as much as I anticipate what comes next for all the different factions this 4th book raised the stakes for Ember and company to a degree that am not entirely sure they can survive.
