The book set was a fun read. What we got was the Nook-Book set. These mysteries were, perhaps, a little predictable. The books are definitely written, addressed more to a feminine audience than to a masculine one. The wording and subjects talked about, I think, are more applicable to women. Not a bad thing, and if we males, were to pay more attention, might make relating to women getting along with women not such a mystery. Miss Baker has a feminist attitude, in that she doesn't accept advice from the male characters in the books. She appears to not note the danger that she is getting herself into. She is a young woman, light of weight and not imposing stature. In the 4 novels, she places herself in danger to find the guilty person and is rescued from the danger she has placed herself in by the male characters in each of the novels. I really admire the fact that these are Cozy Novels. Profanity and sexual situations are not found. It's really refreshing to find that mystery stories can be told without the 'modern influence' where sex, profanity and violence seem to be a necessity to tell a story. Leighann Dobbs has done a good job of putting together at least 4 novels that make a fun and interesting reads. We purchase novels to read while traveling. I drive, my wife reads (her idea) and I agree. Traveling to our children's homes for a visit, means covering the same territory over and over, And on the great plains, the scenery is pretty much the same, so we are free to drive, read and speculate on the outcome of the stories that we are reading. Would I recommend these to friends or strangers, Oh, Yes! If the reader is interested in Risque stories of sex, violence and indulgence in vulgarity, then these won't do. If you are looking for stories of real people who don't enjoy the above, there are plenty of novels in the printed or digital format that are you cup of what-ever.

These are very easy, light reading.  I love mysteries and it's nice to read one every so often where you won't encounter profanity or explicit scenes. I read several of her later ones so decided to read how it all began.  Some of the situations are a bit hokey but that's part of the "coziness".  Just fun, easy reading.

This collection is light & easy. But they're really short stories instead of books. Only about 80 pgs each. Predictable endings. But the main character if funny & easy to like.

Loved this set went and got the rest already Big 5 stars. Poor Lexy can get herself into some Jam's (get it Baker JAM) ok maybe not so funny. But the books are good, recipes are great..

Only about 75-80 pages, not enough time to develop story or characters. All books in this series are very similar and predictable.

The shallowness of the first few pages renders this book essentially unreadable

These books were a fun read, but what I like to call "fluff". Not much substance, but good to pass a few hours with.

I didn't give it five stars because the series was a classic, or really well written. The editing could have been better, you can see what pages and chapters were cut and have to figure it out. I gave it a high rating because each story was an amusing episode that kept me either entertained or confused. I love the Senior Sleuths.
