About the Author

Cheryl Shireman lives on a lake in the Midwest with her husband. She is the mother of three adult children and the grandmother of the two “most adorable granddaughters in the world.”
Her novels are sensitive portrayals of multi-faceted characters. Often humorous, and always thought-provoking, whether focusing on love, finding purpose in life, or a little mystery, Shireman’s novels depict realistic characters facing realistic dilemmas. One reader writes, “Cheryl has a wonderful talent for describing people. Interesting, flawed, multidimensional people. I can picture them so clearly in my mind and some I can almost smell. I love the way her characters are as messed up as real people all are. I can’t wait for more.”
She is the author of several bestselling novels including the Life Is But a Dream series, Broken Resolutions, and the Cooper Moon series. Cheryl Shireman is also the author of several titles for children including the I Love You When books and the Curious Toddler series - Let's Learn About.

I couldn't put this book down. The characters seemed so real and easy to identify with. I especially fell in love with Grace and felt like I knew her. I was laughing out loud at some of the thoughts that were going through her head, and at other times my heart ached for her. It's a gripping story that will hold your interest till the end. I can't wait for the next book from this author.

Grace Adam has escaped to a lake cabin to sort things out. Her life is in a mess. Her family home have been repossessed, her husband is depressed, and there is little hope their marriage will survive. Feeling hopeless, she starts planning her suicide. Until, something happens to throw her plans in disarray. Despite all the turmoil and the hopeless outlook of the situation, Grace must rise above her situation to confront a killer. Life is But a Dream's blurb says that the book is thought-provoking and how true it is! The incidents the characters face will have readers questioning on the themes of life and death. While not every incident in the book happens to most people, the character personalities are very real. Among all the characters, the character of Grace Adam is the most realistic and I'm even wondering if it was based on a real person. Although there are some funny parts in the book, the thought-provoking themes overwrote those. I found Life is But a Dream a sobering read. If you're looking for a book that will make you feel good, you won't find it in Life is But a Dream. Overall, the book did not really appeal to me particularly because I could not relate with the characters nor identify with the incidents, but nevertheless, it is time-worthy.

This is a fast-paced story about a woman who has reached rock bottom--so much so that she is planning to end her life. The thought processes Grace Adams go through are sad, realistic, and sometimes downright funny. I like the way the author infuses humor into a serious scene. But the story evolves with twists that leave both Grace and readers surprised. The book has elements of romance, mystery, and action-adventure. I felt myself drawn into the story from the start and then it just kept getting better and better. Cheryl Shireman does a fantastic job of creating realistic, three-dimensional characters. She creates scenes with depth using all the senses so that each one plays out like a movie in the reader's mind. But what I love most about this author's books is that you never know what's going to happen. She defies genre formulas and boxes with truly creative story-telling.

Decided to try book since it was only $.99. Definitely worth more! Characters are developed and wasn't predictable as most books tend to be. You can't go wrong, esp with price!

Reading this book was a complete waste of time. It had some good parts that kept you wondering but never developed on anything. The book left may things unanswered.
