I almost always read the reviews that are written about a book before I choose to purchase it, but it is rare that I ever feel the need to write a review, myself. So far, I have read three books by Alexis Harrington, and I have yet to be disappointed. As a librarian, I am often asked to recommend authors and books to my patrons. This author has, without a doubt, become my favorite. A Light For My Love is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read. Unlike many romance writers, Alexis Harrington doesn't simply give a brief story about the couple only to spend most of the book discussing their physical relationship. She sets up such a love story between the couple that it becomes an emotional journey for the reader, a journey that will literally make your heart flutter with anticipation for the moment when they finally profess their love for each other. A Light For My Love is a wonderful example of Alexis Harrington's ability to tap into all of the the emotions one feels when they realize that the person they have dispised since childhood has now become the one their heart longs for, and can no longer live without.

Great! Great! Great! I really loved this book. It touched my heart and made me cry. China was such a strong fighter that she was burning herself out emotionally. But the character that I loved the most was Jake. Jake was so unexpectantly loving and loyal. I think I will read this book again.

I adore Alexis Harrington. This is no exception. Yet, it wasn't my favorite of hers.  China thinks she can never forgive Jake for persuading her brother to abandon his family and head out to the high seas only to be never heard from again. When he left, China and her family were at the pinnacle of society. But now the tables have turned. Jake returns home the captain of his own ship while China manages to struggle maintaining her home. The story progresses nicely adding some mystery and intrigue into the situation.
