About the Author

Henri Barbusse wurde am 17. Mai 1873 (anderslautendes Geburtsjahr: 1874) in Asnières-sur-Seine bei Paris geboren und starb am 30. August 1935 in Moskau. Er war ein französischer Politiker und Schriftsteller. Durch sein im Jahr 1916 erschienenes Kriegstagebuch Das Feuer, das im Laufe der Zeit in mehr als 60 Sprachen übersetzt wurde, wurde er weltberühmt und erhielt im selben Jahr dafür den Prix Goncourt, den angesehensten französischen Literaturpreis.
