illa Maddox and Ren Colson are 2 of the 9 progeny of rock royalty Velvet Lemons. The kids are all "raised" by their dads in a compound together. Because of the dysfunction within everyone tends to go their separate ways. Fast forward: Gwen, a woman who lived on the compound and was the "glue" to the Lemons and their kids, passed away. Cilla returns to the compound to go through the artists costumes Gwen had collected. Cilla creates costumes herself and had a personal interest in the collection. Enter Ren Colson. Ren was Cilla's crush. He was the epitome of a BAD BOY. Ren looks at Cilla and sees an innocent, yet there's something about her that appeals to his sexual, sensual self. Ridgway has written a wonderful, HOT book. You can feel the struggles between the characters. She has woven a great story that continues throughout the Rock Royalty series!

Good story til the end and the cliffhangers. Why don't any of the boys remember there group activities as children and who is the dark haired baby Ren is not to remember? Might have been a better book with an interesting plot.

I read this book a year ago when it first came out and really liked it. Then I recently got a group email from Christie asking her fans to review her books. So in full disclosure, this is what I have done. She offered me the first two books in this series for free, but I bought them both some time ago so this isn’t a payback in any way. I just really like this series and am telling you why. Light My Fire, Rock Royalty, is the first in a series of stories about the children born to a rock group, The Velvet Lemons, who each had three children. All their mothers left them to be raised by their neglectful fathers, so the children practically raised themselves on the Velvet compound. There was one woman who had been a Velvet follower, who managed to stay in the compound and became the children’s “mother”. Now the children are adults and Gwen has recently died. Cillia Maddox, a Velvet child, is staying in Gwen’s house inside the compound, clearing out the house and getting her inheritance ready to be taken to her own home. In walks Ren Colson, another VC who Cillia has had a crush on all her life. Ren is in from England for a short time to pay his respects to Gwen and collect his inheritance. Let the romance begin. This was a fun read, the author has an easy story telling style that slides you into the story and gets you hooked very quickly. The characters are interesting and well described and as the story continues you get to meet more of the Velvet kids. You just know more books are on the way. I really liked Light My Fire. Only one thing took me out of the story. The author named the kinds of beer the characters were drinking. I didn’t recognize the brands (if they are even real) and even if I had, it just didn’t fit. Nowhere else in the story were brands mentioned. I know it’s a small gripe, but it stood out for me and stopped me for a second – it felt like a commercial. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next installment, Love Her Madly

I received a complimentary book in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book. Even though this is a New Adult (NA) book, and I am far removed from the New Adult category, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the first book in a series about the nine grown-up children of the famous rock group, The Velvet Lemons”. The children, who were collectively called Rock Royalty, lived solely with their fathers who rarely had anything to do with them. Unfortunately, once their mothers left, they never saw them again. Instead, the children were all raised by a groupie, Guinevere (Gwen) Moon who had come to visit the group and then stayed to raise the children. They were all raised as a family with Gwen as their “mother figure.” Unfortunately, once they grew up, they rarely, if ever, saw each other. Renford (Ren) Colson is a part of the Rock Royalty. However, he has spent years living in England apart from the other members of the group. He has only returned to Southern California because Gwen, who has recently died, has left him a package. She also sends him the key to her house which is where he plans to stay for a little while. He is unaware, that Priscilla (Cilla) Maddox, the youngest of the children, is also staying there for a little while. Cilla and Ren, who haven’t seen each other in years, are both attracted to each other. Cilla has just broken up from a bad relationship which has severely damaged her self- esteem. Both Cilla and Ren are unable to ignore the steamy chemistry between the two of them so they decide to have a short-term affair while he is visiting This book has a double theme. It is, first and foremost, the love story of Cilla and Ren. The second theme is much deeper. Because Cilla and Ren each had such a dysfunctional childhood, neither of them is capable of having a normal relationship. It didn’t take me long to become involved in Cilla and Ren’s love story. Christie Ridgway made Cilla so realistic that I could feel her pain when she thinks about her relationship with her ex-boyfriend. I can also sense Cilla’s wish to be close to the other nine people in her “family,” and her deep desire to marry and to become part of a normal family for the first time in her life. On the other hand, I found it difficult at times to relate to Ren. He is kind, caring and loving to Cilla. Yet he refuses to become involved with her and constantly reminds her that he will be leaving soon so she better not fall in love with him. He, even, mentally and/or physically removes himself from her when things bother him. Fortunately, he redeems himself at the end of the story which enables the couple to find their happy ever after. I cannot wait to read the next book. I am looking forward to reading about the other members of the Rock Royalty.

First time reader for Christie Ridgway. It took a couple of chapters to really get involved with the characters. Once the story is laid out you will not be able to put it down. I love the way she was able to bring Ren and Cilla story alive.

I found a kindred Hippie spirit in Ms. Ridgeway. Her new series Rock Royalty starts with ‘Light My Fire’. The whole idea of living on a compound/commune setting has always appealed to me. Woodstock… I can’t help but sing The Doors… Light my Fire as I write this review. The first is what is going to be a fun series we start with Cilla and Ren two of the children raised by Gwen. Gwen raised America’s iconic band Velvet Lemon’s children. They all had their father’s but all needed a mother and that is where Gwen came in. She provided that for all the bands kids. Over the years the children have all left the compound to find their own place in the world away from the limelight of being part of Rock Royalty. Cilla and Ren start the series off as they come back to the compound at a bequest from Gwen’s will. They seem to each have inherited half of her cottage on the compound which they are to share. Interesting… Neither wants to fall in love or become involved but where there is chemistry there usually is steam. It isn’t until Cilla ex comes back into the picture does Ren realize just how much he actually wants Cilla. I think that the rough stubborn hero is always a hit because they seem to be a little bit of that bad boy sexy. Ms. Ridgeway gives us that and more with Ren while making Cilla that understanding heroine but yet keeping her independently strong. I love the background story where I got the chance to meet some of the siblings which helps to add depth making it more realistic. I found the characters easy to connect to in this fun fast paced story. Ms. Ridgeway brings you into her stories allowing you to be a part of the story as it unfolds. I look forward to reading the rest of this series. So grab your favorite drink and settle into your comfy reading chair for a little bit of Rock and Roll magic.

I am not normally a fan of books written during our time period. I usually want to get lost when I pick up a book, and that means a different time period in my mind. I must say, this book caught me and was just a blast to read. The premise that these are all the children of a group of rock stars, that grew up together and (spoiler alert) in this book two of the "Siblings' find love together was just great. There is the usual struggle to come to grip with their feelings and scars from their childhood. The development of the love story was believable and I read this in 1 sitting. I must say I've read every book in the series since, you can't help but want to know how each of the children (now adults) find their true love.

Light My Fire, by Christie Ridgway, is the first in her new Rock Royalty series. Somewhere in Laurel Canyon the three members of the band The Lemons built a compound to raise their progeny. Each band member had 3 children for a total of 9 princes and princesses from eight different women, with one set of twins, who left their children with their fathers. However, a roadie named Gwen stayed and built a house in the compound to help raise the kids. In this story we meet Ren, Renford Colson, and Pricillia, Cilla, Maddox. Gwen has passed away and left her collection of rock fashion wear from the 70s to Cilla. Gwen also had left a box for Ren. Ren, the second oldest and the bad boy, returns to the compound from his home base of London. He became a specialist in backstage security and now runs his own business. Cilla, the youngest, is a fashion designer, based in LA, who creates magical fashion for others. She returns to the compound to catalogue the fashion collection. From the time she was a preteen, Cilla had a crush on Ren. As the two spend time at Gwen’s house the attraction and chemistry between the two arises. Ren realizes that Cilla is no longer a child. He also agrees to mentor Cilla in the art of love making. Cilla is coming off a relationship with an unstable man who blames her for what goes wrong, or doesn’t happen, when they have sex. Ren helps Cilla see how sexual she really is. As their time together continues, Ren believes he is unworthy of and unable to have a long lasting, loving relationship. Cilla shows him how wrong he is and how much he deserves the love she has for him. The story introduces the reader to the other seven royalty members. We have Cami (the only other girl) and Payne, siblings of Ren; twins Bing and Brody, Cilla’s brothers, and from the third family Beck (the eldest), Walsh, and Reed. All except Beck live nearby in Los Angeles and have reunited. They have become a tribe children of the compound. They promote Gwen’s saying of “When life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade.” I loved the way Christie Ridgway took the reader along on Cilla and Ren’s journey to finding themselves, each other, and letting go of their pasts. She showed the growth in the relationship between these two characters as well as how their affection for each other continued to grow. I highly recommend this book to all readers and I cannot wait to read the next story in this series.

This was a good read. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series. This is the first in a series about the grown children of the various members of a famous rock band. It is sad and sweet all in one. In reading this first book of The Rock Royalty series, you know there is hope for this group of nine offspring of a famous rock group. Somewhere along the way each and everyone will find their way to family.

Ren has lived a wild life. He doesn't think that he deserves or could do the family thing. Cilla has grown up and still has a big crush on Ren, but Ren thinks she is too sweet for the likes of him. Cilla also just broke up with a guy that shattered her self confidence. As they spend more time together, they both have emotions that neither of them are quite prepared to deal with. Then there are the other kids in their "family" to consider. When life hands you Lemons, make lemonade is their family mantra. Can they all come together as a family after so many years apart?

A Very Good Read California Rolling Stone magazine once dubbed the nine collective children of the most famous band in the world “Rock Royalty,” years ago. All the princes and princesses are coming back to L.A.’s Laurel Canyon now that they are all grown up. They are also trying to discover if love can be found among the ruins of their childhoods that was steeped in sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. Ren Colson is a band tour manager that is world-weary. He has left his London business behind for a stay in Southern California. He never expected to wake up beside Cilla Maddox. Cilla Maddox has managed in the years since their last meeting to turn out sexy as hell. Ren is a man that has been hardened by dark roads, long nights and too many faceless women. He is also convinced that Cilla deserves more than that. Cilla Maddox never thought to see the bad boy of her dreams again. Next thing she knows he is sharing her home, her air and her bed. He claims he has no heart. Cilla wants it to be hers. Now she needs to see if she can convince him that the flames between them just might signify forever. This is the start of a series that should prove very interesting. The characters are interesting and readers will enjoy seeing them get beyond both their pasts and the issues that have resulted from that past. It will be interesting to see how each one of the Rock Royalty gets past their demons to find the happiness they all want. All the different personalities makes for some very interesting reading.

I thought this was a sexy start to the new series by Christie Ridgway (Rock Royalty) It is a fast read & one that you can just have fun with & not think to hard over. The plot line of rock royalty children with different moms all coming together & living on a compound is an interesting twist & I look forward to the future books highlighting the others stories. I enjoyed watching Cilla & Ren explore their relationship but some of the back & forth got to be a little much. All is all an awesome read!! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Loved this book. Story of how two people who grew up together not really knowing each other, come back together years later and things get intense. If this book is any indication on how the others will follow I can't wait to ready them. Love Christie's style of writing and the depth of her characters. Excellent read, would highly recommend.

Light My Fire by Christie Ridgway is the first book in her Rock Royalty series. Cilla Maddox had an unconventional childhood. She was raised by members of a legendary rock back called the Velvet Lemons. Though the band members were stars they had no idea how to raise their various children. Cilla is all grown up and back in the family compound after the death of the woman she thought of as her mom. She wasn’t expecting her teenage crush Ren Colson to be there as well. Renford Colson moved far away from the Lemons as soon as he could. He comes back to pay homage to Gwen the woman that raised the kids of the Lemons. Ren realizes Cilla is all grown up and more woman then he can ever imagine. Though Ren is only in town a short time, the attraction he feels for Cilla can not be ignored. Will Cilla be able to have a short term affair with the man she has always loved? Light My Fire is fun and sexy, as well as emotion. These kids didn’t have a conventional upbringing and to say they all have baggage is an understatement. Cilla and Ren send sparks off each other and you want them to find their happy every after.

This is the story of Ren and Cilla both of them are children of rock and roll stars that were raised by an amazing women that has recently passed a way bringing Ren and Cilla back to there old home place where they grew up to take care of things. What they didn't know was that each other was coming to the compound so it was quite the surprise. Its amazing how much they have each changed and there is and instant attraction between them. Neither Ren or Cilla want to do anything about the attraction because they have too much in there past that would affect them. As Ren and Cilla spend more time together they start learning more about each others past. Cilla feels like she is not good in bed and she is not worth it for men and will always be alone. Ren feels like because of what he has done in his past he can not be with Cilla. Cilla finally starts to open up to Ren and this create a large turn in the storyline. I really enjoyed this book. You will have to read it to find out how it all turns out. I really enjoyed how i learned about how they grew up as kids and it shaped who they are now. We are introduced a cast of other characters for the future. I enjoy Christie Ridgway writing style and look forward to reading more books in this series.
