Seven years of reflections, journeys and meetings: the revelation of a fascinating philosophy of life. Paulo Coelho is an enchanting storyteller, inspiring people all over the world to see beyond the ordinary and into the remarkable. Like the Flowing River is a compilation of tales, opinions and ideas drawn from articles published in various newspapers. This path took me to many places and caused me to change countries more often than I changed shoes, as Bertolt Brecht used to say. The pages that follow contain accounts of some of my own experiences, stories other people have told me, and thoughts I’ve had while travelling down particular stretches of the river of my life. - PAULO COELHO

I bought this book as an eBook once it (finally!) came out in the US, and before I bought it I read a review in the UK page that said “This book is one of the best books ever... It should be available on prescription”. I thought that was a clever comment and I also thought that was exactly what I needed. Not because I was in a hard time in my life (I cannot understand why people think meaningful reading have to be read while you are in a very bad time of your life), but because I have already read so many simplistic books that I needed something wise and funny. I found what I was looking for: ‘Like the Flowing River’ is so good. Those short stories just make your day interesting. I read one short story every night, before I went to bed, and it just made me relax and go to sleep in a good mood.

Brilliant short stories! I just never get tired of reading Coelho. This book is a compilation of short stories and columns the author wrote in different newspapers through the years… so it is very update, it talks about things that happen to us every day: regular conversations we have with friends, etc… I just felt the book really connected with me. As the author says, “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things”.

Wonderful read. A collection of goodness in one place. I highly recommend this book for those seeking some reassurance that they are on the right path and that human nature is basically good. It’s the feeling you have after completing a book that counts and this is a good one.
