Book two of Greenway Range

With his military career over and his ego bruised, Jason McAdams is ready to start over. As a founding partner in Greenway Range, his new life is everything he'd ever dared to dream about, but it also puts him in constant contact with the one woman he can't have: his best friend's little sister.

Molly Cain has loved Jason for as long as she can remember, and seeing him now—damaged and self-destructive—is a constant heartache. Watching him numbly work his way through woman after woman is damn near intolerable. Until one summer night changes everything.

After a rocky start, the sex is hot and naughty and all Molly knew it would be. And when he makes another pass at her, Molly doesn't say no. Or the many times after that, either. But Jason carries a secret—one that's kept him away from Molly for all these years, one that could ruin everything. He's been shot at and seen death, but letting the woman he loves find out the truth is the real worst-case scenario…

I have really enjoyed this series, but I have to admit that this one is probably my least favorite. The story had promise, but for me never really took off. Still worth the read, but it's a bit slower than the rest.

After saying goodbye to his military career, and his not so happy marriage, Jason McAdams is ready for a life reboot. He moves home and decides to partner with his best friends in a new business adventure. He is trying his best to put his life back on track, but lingering old habits keep getting in the way, he struggles to finally put a end to them, meaning he must finally swear off his heavy drinking and bed hopping ways and try to find a way to start walking the straight and narrow. There has always been one bright spot in his life, his best friends little sister Molly, he has admired her from afar for years and always wanted something more with her, but she is completely off limits. He can't help his attraction to her, he has tried to erase his desire for by making his way through half the women in town, but she always seems to find a way back into his life, and haunts his every thought. When she gets tired of being hurt by his bed hopping, and shuts him out completely he is devastated, he can't handle the thought of her not being in his life in some capacity. He know he has to find a way to get her back, even if it is just settling to be her friend... Molly Cain has loved Jason for most of her life, the only problem is she is quite certain he doesn't feel the same way about her, especially after he drives the point home by marrying her friend. She is left devastated and alone, and wondering why he can't see the chemistry that has lingered between them for years. She understands that he feels obligated to keep his distance because of his friendship with her brother, but she thinks he needs to get over it and make his move. And since, he doesn't seem to have the courage to do it, she has decided to take matters into her own hands, he is finally free and clear of his wife, and she is ready to finally have her chance with him...even if it is just a little no strings attached fling!! This was a refreshing first read for me, I thoroughly enjoyed reading a story where the heroine took charge and was able to stand toe to toe with the strong alpha male character. She surprised me with her strength and tenacity several times in the story, and had me in her corner the whole way through! This was my first visit to the Greenway Range series, and I can say with complete certainty that it won't be my last! I can't wait to see what Ms. Dimon has in store the other characters in this series!! If you like a good second chance romance, with a strong female character not afraid to take the lead, then this is a book I think you'll REALLY REALLY enjoy!! This is a story about heartbreak and loss, love and redemption. It's a friends to lover story too, about Molly who's loved her brother's friend Jason for years, watching as he teetered on the brink of destruction after her mother died, which precipitated his decision to enter the military and how he returned a battered and bruised man. She's seen him go through women and alcohol and now, now he finally is seeing her in a new light. He wants to pursue a relationship with her, and will do anything to make her see that he is changing, and will continue to do so for her. But is it enough to earn back her trust after years of breaking it apart? I really enjoyed this story. The conflict between Jason and Molly was believable, and it's easy to see why Molly doesn't trust Jason. Starting with dating and marrying (then divorcing) her friend, breaking her heart for the first time and not the last, their relationship has been a string of closeness and confidences followed by bitterness and betrayal. They've always been friends though, through thick and thin until Molly cuts Jason off, leaving him with a month to come to the realization that not having her in his life is worse than anything else that could happen. During this time, he's come to realize that he wants more with her, a future, but he knows it's going to be a tough and uphill battle to convince her that they could be good together. And when Molly lets him back into her life she's clear that she wants only one thing from him - sex. She won't risk her heart again, but she knows that he'll treat her body well. Jason tries to resist letting things between them become physical, but he can't because truth be told, he's always wanted her in his bed. Their love scenes are steamy, and put them on the path to forgiveness. I liked the two of them together, and I was glad to see Molly was firm in her convictions that Jason would have to prove to her that he had changed if he wanted a real chance with her. Jason is definitely an empathetic character, one who has made some pretty poor choices and is paying for them now. But you could tell that he was serious about changing, not just for Molly but for himself too. There's another secondary storyline as well, the relationship between Jason's older brother Marcus and his former military teammate Will. Being in the military means that the 'don't ask don't tell' policy is ingrained in them, so much so that Will doesn't want to let it be known to his friends that he's dating Marcus. And this wears on Marcus, to the point where he has to make some decisions about his future too. Their story isn't finished and I'm looking forward to hearing more about this couple in the future. Overall, I found this to be a great addition to the series, and an enjoyable read, sometimes intense, sometimes sexy, and always entertaining. 4 stars.

I wish the characters had been consistent for bith books! I kept feeling like I has to rename them everytime. Not what I want to do in a series :(
