Two years after their debut record, Brian Fallon's Gaslight Anthem
side project the Horrible Crowes
deliver their first concert album, Live at the Troubadour
. This intimate set at West Hollywood's legendary venue was recorded shortly after the release of their first LP, Elsie
, and features all 12 of that album's songs played in order. Breaking up the sequence are a mid-set cover of Katy Perry
's "Teenage Dream" and a rousing rendition of INXS
' classic ballad "Never Tear Us Apart" to close out the show. Formed in 2011 by Fallon and his longtime guitar tech Ian Perkins
, the Horrible Crowes present a more subdued platform for Fallon's gritty Americana tales, but this live album proves that they are no less virile than his anthem-pumping main act.
