Book five in The Plumber's Mate Mysteries series
Still waters run deadly.
Tom Paretski, plumber with a talent for finding hidden things, and his private investigator fiancé Phil Morrison have been hired to locate a runaway husband, Jonathan Parrot. The job seems simple enough--until their quarry turns up dead in a canal, and a photofit of Tom's face is splashed all over the news, making him chief suspect.
The widow, petite ex–porn star Lilah Lovett, is convinced her husband was killed by his gay lover, but Tom and Phil aren't so sure. Worried they may have precipitated Jonathan's death, they're determined to find the real killer. But with a web of incestuous ties linking the suspects, it's hard to know who to trust. Especially when a second victim dies a gruesome death.
Meanwhile, with their wedding looming and them sharing a house now, Tom's worried it may all be too much, too fast. The last thing he needs are the mixed messages Phil seems to be sending out. They'll need to get back on the same track if they want to make it to their honeymoon together - and alive.

Merrow is an automatic buy for me. This entertaining adventure let me share some of my favorite characters' always touching and often hilarious romantic dilemmas while keeping me guessing who the villain was in the current murder mystery right up until the end. Great fun as always! Highly recommend it.
4.5 Stars! Lock Nut is book 5 in The Plumber's Mate Mysteries series and it needs to be read in order. I've been waiting for this book for almost two years and it was well worth the wait! Tom and Phil are now engaged, living together and preparing for their wedding, but not everything is going great in their personal lives as Tom starts to wonder if they're moving too fast. Add to that their newest case and things aren't looking all that good for our heroes. I adore Phil, he's a saint, really. LOL I love Tom, too, he's sarcastic, self-deprecating and so much fun, although his tendency to be overly dramatic in some instances makes me want to scream. They're just perfect for each other, and I love watching them work through their issues. The case was intriguing and kept me wondering until the very last minute with all the twists and turns the author threw in. It was all so convoluted that while I guessed about some of it, I never could've imagined it all. Overall, this was a great addition to the series! It was filled with Ms. Merrow's unique brand of British humor—which I adore—intrigue, suspense and a fantastic array of characters I can't get enough of. Tom and Phil are amazing as always, but it was great catching up with Dave, Gary and Darren, too. I really hope this isn't the last we've seen of them. Very recommendable! *** Copy provided to the reviewer via Netgalley for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
