Overview

Lonestar Sanctuary (Lonestar Series #1) by Colleen Coble

In the quiet safety of the Bluebird Ranch, old promises resurface and unexpected love brings new hope.

Though tragedy has wrecked her life, Allie Siders holds on to the hope that her five-year-old daughter, Betsy, will speak again. But with a stalker out for revenge, all Allie can think about now is their safety. She must sever all ties and abandon life as she knows it. She heads to the peaceful Bluebird Ranch, nestled deep in Texas hill country, and to the only person who can help them.

The ranch is a sanctuary for abused horses, and also for troubled youths: the perfect place for Betsy to grow and recover. Ranch owner Elijah DeAngelo eagerly welcomes the duo. But Rick Bailey-the ranch foreman and DeAngelo's right hand man-hasn't decided to let his guard down . . . yet.

Promises made long ago soon force Rick and Allie to work together to escape danger. Will they discover love along the way?

I like the way Colleen Coble puts together a compelling story that is clean and full of good values without preaching. It had good progression and enough tension to keep me turning pages. The characters were well developed and had forward motion. There were enough suspects to keep you guessing from time to time. I will read another.

God, trust, hope and love undergird this story. It provides encouragement and belief in God's plan-holy and best-for our lives.

Will they discover love along the way? My Review - This book was pretty good. I don't know what I was expecting from it when I first started reading it. I got this book on my Nook (Herbie) back in February for free and I hadn't thought much about it. But it was good. I loved the story of Allie and Rick and Elijah for that matter. Betsy was cool too. I figured out some of the details before they were revealed but some I didn't have a clue about. And I was definitely wrong about the person who was after Allie. I will be reading the next book in the series but it probably won't be the next book I read, just cause I have so many other books on my Nook to read already.

Lonestar Sanctuary is a great book for anyone interested in suspenseful romance novels. Colleen Coble does an excellent job of vividly creating a beautiful southern atmosphere. Her book takes you on a journey with a young girl who has lost almost everything and must find shelter at the Bluebird Ranch for help. Enduring a hard test of faith she will risk everything she has to protect her daughter from the stalker who is threatening their lives. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful book. Coble does an excellent job exemplifying the commitment between two friends and the extraordinary measures one friend will take to protect the other. She shows how one mother's love is willing to fight through the darkest of storms. One of the best features of this book is that it is completely unpredictable. The reader will question the identity of the murderer throughout the entire book. Lonestar Sanctuary will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will not want to put it down.

I was really enjoying this book...it had me hooked but...i got to page 190 and it just kept reverting back to page 187...so i was not able to read the last 100 pages. I went to go to page and finally got to page 194 and 2 pages later it was at 187 again. So disappointed. Don't bother loading this one something is wrong with it.

A MUST read! Be ready to be pulled into this story while reading the prologue! What a road you will be traveling, fear, determination and hope will be some of them. I have read some of Colleen's books before and really enjoyed them, this one is no different and she shows that you can move on with your life even while facing the fear of death to your loved ones and possible yourself. By the way, I never did figure out who was causing the fear or why until it is revealed. A must read!

This was a OK book but not worth the $9.99 Barnes and Noble charged me after listing it as a FREE book. They refused to correct their error. Please be aware when ordering from them.

I loved this book, my hubby is a Texas man and I currently live in a farm and ranch town in Colorado where my side of the family is from. This just makes me wish we had a ranch of our own.
