Louisiana Tech's Joe Aillet

Joe Aillet is a Louisiana Tech football icon, with a stadium named in his honor. During a tenure that stretched north of a quarter century, his teams won 151 games and twelve championships. He mentored greats including Leo Sanford, Tom Hinton, Jimmy Johnson, Phil Robertson and Terry Bradshaw along the way. Yet he remains an underappreciated figure whose off-held biography rivals his sideline career. He was an uncommon coach, a reserved scholar who quoted Shakespeare during practice and kept in touch with players overseas during World War II. Author Christopher A. Kennedy illuminates the full picture of this Louisiana Tech legend, from his against-the-odds childhood to the eleven championships he won as a golf coach.
