Love Monster is a slightly hairy monster trying to fit in with the cuddly residents of Cutesville. But as it turns out, it's hard to fit in with the cute and the fluffy when you're a googly-eyed monster. And so, Love Monster sets out to find someone who will love him just the way he is. His journey is not easy—he looks high, low, and even middle-ish. But as he soon finds out, in the blink of a googly eye, love can find you when you least expect it.

Look out for Love Monster and the Perfect Present, coming in Fall 2014.

This book is adorable!  I monster is so cute, I just want a stuffed toy of him!   In this picture book, a lonely monster leaves his home in Cutesville to find someone who will love him just as he is.   After searching for a very long time, it gets dark and the monster decides to go home.  Then, as he waits for the bus….love strikes! He finds another monster to call his own!

Love Monster is an endearing, heart-warming tale of a "slightly hairy" monster searching for love in a world of never-ending cuteness.  While the story isn't anything groundbreaking, in a world that is ever increasingly focused on physical appearances and materialism, it is  wonderful to be reminded that one doesn't have to be a perfect "Barbie" or "Ken" doll to find true love.  From one "slightly hairy monster" to another, well done Love Monster.  Well done.

I am going to be totally honest with you on this one. I am very torn with my feelings about it. On one hand I like it and think it is really cute while on the other hand I think it is a little bit depressing. I guess I should explain that a little bit... I think the monster is super cute. He looks like something I just want to pick up and hug. If I think that, I am sure that kids who read or have this book read to them will think the same thing about this little guy. I also like the artwork. I don't really know why, but there is something about it that I find pleasing and nice to look at. What I find depressing about it though is the storyline. The story is about the little love monster and how he has no friends. The love monster then sets out to find some friends, and he just about gives up. Then, when he has pretty much given up all hope of finding a friend, he finds another monster. I understand the underlying message of this story, but I still think it is a tad bit more sad than it needs to be. Find more of my reviews here:

My daughter loves this book. Well written for a very young child. She's two, and especially loves finding the monster doll scattered throughout the book. The love monster has a small doll that is on several pages with him.
