I love the back and forth between them. It's funny that I just finished a neighbors series and these two are neighbors also. I loved the Stilletto series by Ms. Layne so I had no problem picking up this one too. I give it 4 stars, definitely worthwhile to read. Brynn is perfect: perfectly groomed, perfectly made up, perfect life, perfect career, perfect boyfriend, perfectly... boring. And she is slowly realizing that. She is having a midlife crisis and is using Will to get over it. He is her dirty secret but he has other plans. She is seriously messed up. Will is messing with her head. He has a purpose. He is getting a rile out of her, getting her out of her comfort zone, getting her to really see him, to really see herself. There is a desperation about her. And she is afraid. Afraid of change, afraid of being laughed at, afraid of taking risks because it would be possible to be ridiculed. But she doesn't understand that she runs the risk of not truly living. She runs the risk of never finding true love, never knowing herself. Will is trying to show her all of those things. In doing so he is vulnerabe knowing that it could all blow up in his face. He is such a wonderful man yet Brynn doesn't know him, because she doesn't want to. If she were to get to know him, she would have to think of him beyond "enemies" . She would have to maybe realize she's made a mistake for such a long time. Will is so hurt and I hurt for him. I just wanted to yell at her to open her eyes and see him, really see him. Gah! What can I say? It was engaging since I wanted to grab her thru the book and shake some sense into her. ;) Definitely a must read.

Reviewed by Colantha Book provided by NetGalley for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book I would see books by this author in the bookstores and was nervous to try her as she’s a new-to-me author. But when I finally realized that she wasn’t going to go away, I finally picked up one of her books. The story of Brynn thinking she knew Will because she knew everything about him and still put up with his not so nice traits, is one everyone knows that is why we love the friends to lovers story; they know each other so well, they forget that they are in love with each other. I knew as I started in the first chapter of the awkward bathroom scene that this book would be a fast read, not because it is a easy read, but rather that the characters of Brynn and Sophie were so likable. Brynn reminded me of a bit of myself; she is someone who is trying so hard to avoid the horrible braces, overweight, and dotty acne that she forgets what really matters. Lauren Layne’s Made For You was so good, that I am now anxious to get the first book in the series, Only For You because it explains more of Brynn and Will’s past, as well as the loving, but yet competitive dynamics of Brynn and Sophie. If you love Sophie and are surprised to why she is married to Wyatt, I say don’t walk to the bookstore -run. I would recommend that you check out the first book in The Best Mistake series, and if you are smarter than me, you’d read them together. I believe that Lauren Layne is going to stay around. So keep writing Lauren because we will be anxious to see more of your talent.

Brynn is very broken. She can't get over the bullying and hurt she felt in high school and has hidden behind it all her adult life. Will has come back to win her over, knowing that he has to show her how to let her past go. The back and forth between the two characters is playful and fun. You have to give Will an A for effort. There are times you just want to shake Brynn and yell out "let loose for once girl!" It was a fun read, a great love story. I really enjoyed it.

After reading Broken, I knew I had to read more of this author's books. Made for You is a different series entirely, but still had all the tension, chemistry, impossible to put down-ness that I loved about Broken. Lauren Layne sure knows how to hook her readers.  The ARC of Made For You by Lauren Layne was kindly provided to me by publisher through NetGalley for review. The opinions are my own.

My Thoughts: We got to meet both Will and Brynn in the first The Best Mistake book, Only With You (which I loved). There were little snippets following their storyline, which ended in a "must find out what happens" fashion. So, thank goodness for book #2! Brynn keeps trying to stay away from Will, but she can't help but be drawn to him. He's so clearly perfect for her, yet she can't completely give in. I found myself quite annoyed with her throughout, hoping and wishing she would realize what she had right in front of her. Will is determined to prove to her what they mean to each other. Her ridiculousness might keep her from having a happily ever after if she's not careful, though. Made for You was a lovely story giving us a very satisfying conclusion to Will and Brynn's story. I found myself on the edge of my seat, sitting there with fingers crossed and needing to know that everything happens the way it should. Lauren Layne is high up on my 'snag a copy of the latest' list. I can't wait to see what's next. If there's another book in this series (which I'm hoping there will be), it will be in my hands, er, on my Nook. My Rating: Very Good

Brynn Dalton is perfect, at least that’s the vibe she gives to everyone. She has the perfect smart boyfriend she’s been with for two years she’s intelligent with a great job, and has a great body. Except Brynn’s not perfect, not at all. Brynn lives by a strict code that has kept her life on track since high school. Nobody is making fun of her anymore, nobody except Will Thatcher, her long time nemesis. Will and Brynn have been enemies for a long time and after one night together Will left and now three years later he’s back. Will has been in love with Brynn since high school. Becoming her nemesis was never part of the plan but he’d do anything to stay close to her. After that one night when it meant everything to him and nothing to her he left, and now he’s back for Brynn.  Honestly Made for You was not what I expected at all when I signed up for this tour. This love story definitely had its ups and downs, with more downs than ups. Brynn had no idea Will even liked her. Every encounter together had her trying to figure out how he was going to hurt her and so she was constantly defensive around him.  Brynn’s character went through a lot of major changes throughout this book. Right at the beginning of the book I could tell she was very unhappy with her life but unwilling to admit it. She had one very black and white view of the world and herself, which got her into a lot of trouble. She viewed Will as only a man-whore who added her as a notch on his belt. She had a hard time seeing what was real. Honestly though, I enjoyed her struggle to find herself and realize who she really was.  Will played the player card well but it was easy to see that he was definitely not as he appeared to be. He loved Brynn and even though both of them had a very twisted way of showing it, which Will liked to call “fifteen long years of foreplay”, I absolutely enjoyed their story. Made for You is an adorable read that I couldn’t put down for a second. Seriously I forgot to eat. The characters are adorable, the storyline while predictable was nice enough and the writing was easy and enjoyable. Definitely marking Lauren Lane down as authors books I will be constantly checking into.

Lauren Layne did a great job with this book. I could not stop reading it! She really gets the reader evolved and emotional. Awesome! Cannot wait to read more from her.

Made for You by Lauren Layne is the second book in her series, The Best Mistake. I knew when I read the first book, Only with You, from the glimpses of Brynn and Will then that I just HAD to read this book. I wasn't disappointed. Brynn is constantly striving to be the best, to be perfect. She had a tough childhood, bullied about her weight, teeth, and acne until shortly in to her teen years. She dieted, saw a dermatologist, got braces and has been perfect ever since. Will has been the bane of her existence ever since high school. Together they have such a pre-school relationship (pulling pigtails etc) it's a little ridiculous, but even into their thirties they still antagonize each other at EVERY opportunity. They don't immediately see what we do, as a reader with the benefit of both POV's, or at least what Brynn doesn't see. Despite how frustrating Brynn can be, and quite frankly how badly I wanted to slap her sometimes, Will's restraint towards aided in my own restraint from abusing fictional literary characters. The growth of the characters, the flow of the story, and the weaving in of characters beyond the main characters was done to perfection and I can't wait to read more from this author.

I am officially a member of Team Will Thatcher!  Made For You is a steamy love story and it was a fantastic read! Lauren Layne has a light and fun style of writing. It’s witty and fun, and I lost myself in the story. Brynn has loved Will Thatcher from the moment she met him. Will Thatcher has loved Brynn since the moment he met her.  Brynn suffered from a traumatic childhood due to terrible bullying. She made herself over and transformed into the girl everyone wants to be. On the outside… but inside, Brynn is still the girl who believes that no one will ever truly like, much less love her. Will grew up as the boy king. The hot, popular football player, every guy wants to be friends with, and every guy wants to date.  Will approaches Brynn, knowing on some level that they were made for each other. Brynn brushes him off with an ice queen attitude, born of her disillusion that he could never be serious about her. Despite knowing, on some level, that they were made for each other. And so a war begins… Fast forward around 15 years.  Brynn’s plans for life hare not panning out the way she planned…and planned…planned. In a notebook. To make matters worse, Will has reappeared in her life and she is once again confronted with the tension and animosity of their relationship.  Will is determined to barrel into her life and stealthily prove to Brynn that they are right for each other. While this is a fun story, and I really enjoyed it, I wouldn’t actually call it “light” read. I hate to be callous, but really, Brynn was pretty stupid. I don’t completely agree with Will’s tactics, however he did make an effort to show her some vulnerability and let up on the hostility. Brynn refused to see it and after a while, it got really old. Both of them possess a short fuse. Unfortunately, every two steps forward precedes one step back. Most of the time the backwards steps are instigated by Brynn, but then Will completes the movement by letting Brynn push his buttons.  I would have liked to see Brynn start coming around just a little quicker. However, other than that small frustration, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Sophie is a great supporting character. You do not need to read Sophie’s story first, however, if you want to have a better understanding of the history between Will, Brynn, Sophie, and Grey (Sophie’s husband), then I would recommend reading it.  Brynn and Will light up like fireworks when they are together, most often this manifests itself in their bickering. However, when they give in to the real drive behind it, they explode in a wave of passionate heat. They share some steamy scenes, some are just red-hot, and others add an element of sweet romance that had me breathing a dreamy sigh. Will is just delicious. He’s so determined to prove to Brynn that they belong together. My heart broke for him when he would hide his longing for her. In the end, I welcomed Will earned his way onto my list of book Boyfriends! The writing is smooth and easy to read. The characters are well developed and I wasn’t left with questions as to their motivations and the reasons for their actions. I’m not a big fan of the alternating past and present in a book. I’m still not, however it did not deter me from enjoying the book. The author does make it very clear whether you’re reading past or present time.  If you like a good love story, some romance, passion, a little angst, and a lot of fun, you’ll enjoy Made For You!

I enjoyed my emotional ride while reading MADE FOR YOU. I say "emotional" because there were parts that they were a bit painful to read—when I had finished, I felt a dull ache in my chest—even with the happy ending. What I liked about MADE FOR YOU was the truthfulness it had, even though it hurt to read about. What I mean by this is that Will would be hurtful with his words most of the time and it actually hurt me to read about it, hence the dull ache I mentioned before. Will is a very determined and strong-willed character. While he knows what he wants, he still has trouble with handling the situation, in this case the situation is Brynn. Brynn and Will have an extremely rocky past. Their bickering is not normal—the reader can feel the hate while reading. Will left without a trace for years until he decided to come back and win Brynn over. Will was the first to really add fuel to the fire, which he shouldn't have because he really hurt Brynn and ended up pushing her away entirely. When he comes back to win her over, she thinks it's all just for sex. You see, Brynn is as clueless as they come. She is completely blind! She has Will wrapped around her tiny finger and she doesn't even realize until...pretty much almost the end of the story, which sucked to be honest, but the romance was there and it was slowly building up.  It was very fun to read about Brynn's self-discovery. She's this uptight, classy person and even when she tries to let loose...let's just say she only does a bit of it. With Will's help she learns how to find herself again and how to let go of the past and start anew. While the bickering was hurtful, they did have fun time a couple of times when they weren't going for each other's throats. They knew about their own sexual frustration so they would slightly tease one another to see who would give in first. All in all, my experience was gratifying. I enjoyed reading this story a lot more than I thought I would. Will's character is my favorite one of all. And even though Brynn's character would frustrate me at times, I enjoyed reading about her when she started leading her true inner self out.
