Marrying His Best Friend by Jennifer Gracen

Single mom Maura Callahan never anticipated that at age 29 she'd be living with her mom in the suburbs, raising her young daughter, Chloe, and working a job that pays the bills but not much else. Her daughter is worth the struggle– and she still has her best friend Aidan, who makes her laugh, keeps her on her toes, and provides the oh-so-toned shoulder to cry on when necessary.

Aidan McKinnon, exec at a high profile social media company in the heart of Dublin, has longed to change his bestie status with Maura for years, but it seems Maura's relegated him permanently to the friend zone. Still, she and Chloe are his world. But when Chloe's father shows up out of the blue and demands shared custody when he's never once met the little girl, Aidan sees a way to finally have what he secretly wants most while ensuring Maura and Chloe's safety... and the diamond ring is just the beginning.

Will Aidan's fiercely protective, knight in shining armor proposal of convenience end up starting the love of a lifetime?

I don't normally write reviews however I truly enjoyed this book and felt it deserved a review to counter the negative one it has. The previous reviewer said they could not finish the book becuse of the Irish dialog and they found said dialog cheesey. I however did not think there was that much " Irish dialog " nor was it overly cheesey. I found the book well written and to have good characters . Please do not let the other reviewer sway your decision on purchasing this book.

I loved this story how they had been best friends since college he loved her but never told her. The ex comes back and wants his daughter just for his fiance but he didn't really care about her. So the best friends decide to get married so the ex couldn't get her. Can't wait to read the next book.

This was a sweet story that you want to root for. Friends for years til( I won't say). There is a bit of drama, turns and twist. Best part you don't even have read the first two books first but I will now.

The Irish brogue was appropriate for an Irish romance. Although the story was complete, and the storyline was different; the grammar was poor and caused confusion. "Than" and "then" are not the same, and yet the writer seemed to think so. Also, it was rather peturbing when "Em" said "Yes" for marriage, and the "No"... then "Yes"... then "No". When he finally explains that he was in love with her another tempest in their teapot. I felt more irritation than enjoyment as I readthrough the romance..... I hope other readers fare better than I!!!

Like other reviews, I was annoyed by the written attempt at an Irish accent and struggled through this. I thought it was predictable but the child's father thread sure got left hanging. The misunderstandings were somewhat dramatic and childish but at least it was a short story

I liked the story, Aiden was great but Em got on my nerves some. Why would you not go to the police the second her ex showed up, how could you be stalked like that & not know it & why keeo it a secret. 166 pages. Not a book I will read again. GJRA

Recommended The story kept my interest throughout. Although there were several errors the proofreaders did not catch - not ones where spell check would catch it -- ex: in many instances the word "her" was used before and after the verb. If not for those errors the rating would have been 5-stars.

Okay, I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for the "friends to lovers" trope, and MARRYING HIS BEST FRIEND didn't disappoint. I read this book in one sitting, having "saved" it for a rare free Saturday afternoon, and I was glad I did. I hate to be interrupted when I'm dying to know what's going to happen next! Without revealing any spoilers, there were a couple of things Maura did that upset me, but her actions made sense once everything was explained at the end. I ached for both Aiden and Maura when the "black moment" arrived, but I loved how everything was resolved. Maura's anniversary present to Aiden in the epilogue ended the book on just the right high note, and left me smiling. Kudos to Ms. Gracen!

This is a delightful, heart-warming friends to lovers romance featuring the Irish couple, single Mum, Maura Callahan, and her best friend, Aidan McKinnon. For more than a decade Maura has regarded Aidan as her go to friend in times of trouble, the godfather to her daughter and she doesn’t seem to have ever had any romantic notions about him. Desperate to keep near her, he’s never indicated that he loves her until her ex, the man who hit her whilst she was pregnant with his child and then disappeared from their lives, reappears to demand shared custody of their daughter who he has never even seen before. Aidan discovers that if Maura marries him, he can then become the adoptive father, preventing any further custodial demands and cutting the ex from their lives. It will also mean Maura might, at last, start seeing him as a man she could love as more than a friend . . . . Whilst this is the third novel in the series, it works well as a standalone. I loved this sweet Irish romance that really tugs at the heart strings. The abusive, threatening ex, the beloved cheerful and delightful daughter are also well portrayed but it is the angst and turmoil of Maura and Aidan, the secrets they keep and their changing attitudes to each other that make this a great read. Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

This is the third book in the series and an okay story. Maura and Aiden have been best friends for years. When Aiden finally decides to tell Maura how he feels about her, something happens to put another plan in motion. I like the idea of this story and the McKinnon family but I didn't get a real feeling of love between these two besides deep caring friendship. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
