Massacre of Salt Creek Prairie: The Warren Wagon Train raid, also known as the Salt Creek Prairie massacre, occurred on May 18, 1871. Indian warriors destroyed the corn supplies, and killed and mutilated seven of the 12 wagoneers' bodies as well as their mules. Three Kiowa chiefs were identified and arrested.
