Not only is this book a wonderful romance novel but tied in with it is lots of suspense. The choice between giving up your mind, body, soul and also your money to the man you love or to be alone forever. Many women are faced with these issues everyday. This book definitely kept me on my toes and wanting to read for more drama, every page surprised me.

the story line was interesting even though it rambled on sometimes. if finn had no money, he was pretty good about mooching from others, the main character of this story was pitiful at times. how stupid can you be? a woman in her fourties shouldnt be that easily persuaded. thats the way it is i guess. read it and make up your own mind.

this was my first danielle steel book. i'd heard about how good of a story teller she was and i didn't have anything to read on a long flight home. buying reading this book was probably the biggest waste of time and money that i have ever experienced in my entire life. i guess i thought the character was just a very sad and unrealistic contradiction...shes incredbily smart and has been through a lot but at the age of 44 she makes decisions like an 18 year old girl that just moved out of her parents house. that, plus steel's horrible writing style made the book too much for me to try to tackle...maybe i was so distracted bc i had just taken a grammer class at my university and there were about 10 grammatical errors to every page or the fact that she repeated the same facts in a different way in just about every sentence. either way the point is that i was stressed and had a headache by the time i was only 1/3 of the way in and couldn't bring myself to finish it. what a waste. it forsure wasn't worth 11 euros and i'll most likely never read her again.

This is the first Danielle Steel book I read and I liked it. The story is very hard and complicated, especially from the point of view of the main character. Suddenly she finds herself in a dominant and dangerous relationship and it will be very difficult to leave the guy. The author has tried to show to the reader the angst, doubts and loneliness of Hope in a successful way. How, despite loving Finn, she must move on and do what needs to be done. The problem i see is that the story is perhaps a little too predictable. Since we meet Finn it's easy to guess where the things are going and what will happen at the end. Anyways, it was a fast read, entertaining and as real as life itself.

I've been a fan of Danielle Steel since I read one of her books when I was 16 years old. I became really interested in the storyline of this novel since I was able to relate to the main character Hope and her struggles of dealing with a sociopathic relationship. I am only 24 years old and have unfortunately endured the emotional abuse and roller coaster of emotions that Danielle Steel portrays in this novel through Hope's eyes. Although the ending was predictable, I think she did an excellent job of showing how a person can completely tear you down and lift you up over and over again, making you feel completely confused. Ive read some previous reviews of people calling the main character, Hope, "stupid" and "clueless", but if you have never had to experience such a terrible and brain washing experience, you would understand. I think this book is excellent, I recommend it. I read it after reading the National Best Seller, "The Sociopath Next Door" and this novel was a perfect ending towards my research on the behavior of sociopath's. Please Please read!
