Overview

Minecraft: The Island by Max Brooks

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The first official Minecraft novel! In the tradition of iconic adventures like Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island, the author of World War Z tells the story of a hero—stranded in the world of Minecraft—who must unravel the secrets of a mysterious island in order to survive.

Washed up on a beach, the lone castaway looks around the shore. Where am I? Who am I? And why is everything made of blocks? But there isn’t much time to soak up the sun. It’s getting dark, and there’s a strange new world to explore!

The top priority is finding food. The next is not becoming food. Because there are others out there on the island . . . like the horde of zombies that appear after night falls. Crafting a way out of this mess is a challenge like no other. Who could build a home while running from exploding creepers, armed skeletons, and an unstoppable tide of hot lava? Especially with no help except for a few makeshift tools and sage advice from an unlikely friend: a cow.

In this world, the rules don’t always make sense, but courage and creativity go a long way. There are forests to explore, hidden underground tunnels to loot, and undead mobs to defeat. Only then will the secrets of the island be revealed.

“A rollicking adventure yarn; Robinson Crusoe for the digital age.”—NPR

I would have bought it as soon as I found out it was official but its so expensive I am looking forward to it tho cause it's UNBELEIVABLY hard to find any kind of lore in minecraft, not mentioning theres a lot of different stories u can do like freeing the endermen, becoming a villager, or the origin of blazes, so I hope it covers enough :)

It's a written out Let's Play. If you've played Minecraft, you've experienced all this book has to offer, and better, since you experienced it "in person". If you've watched a youtube Let's Play of Minecraft, you've already experienced all this book has to offer. The one trick this book has is that it's written from the perspective of "what if I'm a REAL person REALLY trapped in this game. How weird would that be, to once be an organic man now stuck in a cube world?" and I honestly didn't find enjoyment from that perspective. Reactions felt shallow, the philosophies the character developed during his adventures felt shallow, and nothing new was done with the Minecraft world itself. Punch trees, get wood, eventually make diamond armor and TNT. Every adventure had was an adventure every other Minecraft player has already had., with little exaggeration. Even the character's reactions (even with him being "really" a guy trapped in a game) are so much what I know many people experienced, beat to beat. I'm not complaining about it "being TOO true to the game", I'm complaining about how there's almost nothing NEW to be had here. Writing style wise, you won't find any problems here. World War Z is my all time favorite book; Max Brooks is a brilliant author. I suppose I was expecting more; perhaps I just set myself up.

i wasint ever planing on buying this book, but my freinds were urgeing me to read it. They said it was "amzing" and "funny" and "what are u waiting for?! Buy the =) thing already!!" Anywho i opend the book. "A minecraft book" i grumped "imm reading a minecraft book." Soo yeah... THIS BOOK IS TOTALY AWSOME!! Its basicely about this guy (girl? unamed protagonest at any rate) who wakes up in the botom of the sea. He (im gunna go with he) is scared. Alone. Lost. He swims up to the surface of the water and notes how the clouds are odd. Ditto the sun. He swims to a island, and notices the intire thing is made up of BLOX!! He then notices that he is also a block. After a breif period of freaking out, he sets about to getting some food. By the by he makes freind with a cow and two sheep. They dont talk (cus duh there animals) but mr. Protagonist imagins what they would say if they could. His first night is a bit of a catastrophie, but he recovers well. Over the corse of the next few days he learns the basics of crafting, mineing, gardining, the works. Whats interesting is that although mr. Protagonest in fully in the inecraft world, he has memories of the real one. Actualy he trys to "wake up from the dream" in the beging of the book. He acsepts hes not dreaming, and lives on the island makeing clever quips about simple things and talking to animals. There are a few lessons in this book such as "revenge hurts only you" or "dont dwell on your mistaks, learn from them" BASICLY (If you just skiped to the big letters then shaaam on yooouu...) This is a funny clever book about trial and error, minecraft (doi de doi...) and the value of presevance. A must for any one who likes fanticy, action, adventure, or (mostly) minecraft! So what are you waiting for... at least read the sample! P.S. dis book is da bomb And one more (irevalent) thing. Do u ding-dongs who are makeing these R.P.s, storys, and other junk know what sotial media is? How 'bout going to face book or somethig and leave some reviews behind?

Well I guess I should just start looking for my friends, they could be lost, but then again we all know this server exceptionally well. Oh, what should I do? What should I do? What should I do? And for a while Lup107 just sat down in the tall grass wondering. Elsewhere. Hmph. I can't believe I'm stuck on a server with noobs, I mean seriously a pro like me with these absoulute noobs. Well I should get some wood and wool for a bed. Thought Zanemasterofice. (Or Zane for short). Elsewhere. Hey, bomby so when are we gonna kill someone I'm just aching to do something awesome. Said Fawkes. Well if you keep talking there's not going to be a "you". Said bomby. Ok fine I'll stop talking. Hey it's generalcreep and I hope you like this story. For old fans I'm sorry it makes no sense storyline wise but I'm on a tight schedule so I can't correct every little thing. Next part on Last stand on the ocean shore first part on minecraft surviving you first night. Generalcreep out.
