Ever since being banished to the small town of Christmas, Colorado, by her conniving ex and his new love, Charlotte Bailey has wanted nothing more than to leave. Oh, sure, the town is lovely, and the people are great, but being the chief of staff of the small local hospital can't hold a candle to the life she left behind in New York. It's been a year, and Charlotte is more than ready to head back to the big city, and her promised job, but that darned ex is still up to no good, leaving her right where she doesn't want to be. But the residents of Christmas have a few tricks up their sleeves to keep Charlotte where she's most needed, and save their hospital at the same time. I love a small-town romance, and, when it's a holiday read to boot, color me happy. I've visited the lovely town of Christmas, CO, before, and really enjoyed it. Author Debbie Mason has created a place that is warm and inviting, with characters that are charming, quaint, and sometimes a little zany, and it's a lot of fun to spend time there. The spirit of Christmas gets me every time, and Charlotte doesn't stand a chance when the citizens of her adopted town call in the big guns to convince her to stay, and to keep their hospital up and running. There's romance, there's intrigue, and there's plenty of holiday magic to keep things lively, romantic, and heartwarming. This little read was extremely enjoyable, and an easy 4 stars for me. I'm happy to add it to my list of holiday reads, and recommend it for fans of small-town romances or anyone looking for a feel-good holiday read.
A festive lovely and sweet contemporary romance! “The town looks like it belongs on a Christmas card or in a snow globe. It’s so Christmassy, even Santa set up a second workshop here.” Miracle at Christmas by Debbie Mason is a festive, lovely and sweet contemporary romance set in the decked-out small-town of Christmas, Colorado. It stars two physicians: Dr. Charlotte Bailey and Dr. Matt “McSexy” Trainer. Even though Miracle at Christmas is number 7.5 in the series, it can be fully enjoyed as a stand alone if that is your preference. Regardless, you can expect to have your appetite whetted for more of Debbie’s wonderful holiday books. After Charlotte caught her ex cheating on her in New York City, she’s banished to Christmas, Colorado tasked with turning the financials of the hospital there to black from red. She has been successful and returns to New York expecting a promotion. Instead she learns that she’s now assigned the task of shutting down the same hospital she’d worked so hard to save. But, Charlotte doesn’t know how she can harden her heart to take the hospital away from the town along with the jobs of the employees she’d grown to care for – especially hot Dr. Matt Trainer. Actually, the more she tries to keep her distance from Matt and the town, the closer she grows to them. Will there be a Christmas miracle for the couple and the town? Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Miracle at Christmas: “Charlotte, keep your eyes and heart open to miracles. They happen when you least expect them. All you have to do is believe.” --- “You don’t need an extra blanket or a sweatshirt. You’ve got me to keep you warm.” --- “We both know just because you want something doesn’t mean it’s good for you.” He tried to keep from smiling. “You think I’m bad for you?” Miracle at Christmas is well-written with realistically-drawn characters you’ll quickly come to love. It’s a short read perfect for a quick escape. It certainly held my interest from the beginning to the end as Debbie incorporated some surprising twists and colorful townfolk to keep the story fresh. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys sweet holiday reads or who needs a boost to their Christmas spirit. My full review is published at Reading Between the Wines Book Club. Debbie Mason’s new Christmas novella, Miracle at Christmas, is the perfect escape from the crazy of the holiday season. It is the perfect length for a good cup of cocoa or a nice glass of wine. Charlotte and Matt are the perfect “didn’t see this coming” couple. While Nell’s hand is evident, it is subtle, in honor of her retirement. Fans of the series will devour this one. New readers will enjoy the escape and feel like long-time visitors. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.
This was such a fun, sweet, and heartfelt story that made me incredibly happy! I officially want to read more about Christmas, Colorado! This was a super entertaining story. It's a novella so it's pretty fast paced but there were just the right amount of details to keep things moving along at a great pace. I really enjoyed Matt and Charlotte, their personal dilemmas and the development of their relationship. They have a subtle attraction that's really endearing and I enjoyed how they came together. The writing was really good and I thought it was laid out well so it felt like a full story. There's a bit of drama and tension but for the most part it's got a light, happy vibe happening. There were a lot of lively characters introduced. I assume they’ve been in previous stories in this series, this is my first time reading this author so they’re all new to me. It was fun meeting everyone even though it was a bit hectic since there were so many of them. That being said, it makes me want more of the Christmas, Colorado series so I want to back track and read previous stories. Really witty, sweet read. A total feel good read to bring a little holiday joy! Complimentary copy received for honest review.
