But before Miss Julia can even pick a color swatch, Hazel Marie's new husband, private eye J.D. Pickens, goes missing—and police in West Virginia have detained an injured man fitting his description. Meanwhile, a religious cult is out to convert the locals—and Miss Julia must pick up the pace to free J.D. and get back in time to stop them.

Ann B. Ross has done it again with another great book with Miss Julia and her escapades. Miss Julia gets into more adventures than someone half her age. Miss Julia can't even redecorate her house without "something" out of the ordinary happening! Ms Ross is such a wonderful author and is so descriptive, you are right there with Miss Julia during her predicaments. I laugh out loud all the time when I read and picture in my mind these situations! Her sidekicks, Lillian and Etta Mae add to the craziness! I can't think of one Miss Julia book that I haven't really enjoyed including this one!

After getting back to normal following the birth of Hazel Marie’s twin daughters, Miss Julia gets an odd phone call from the twins’ private detective father, J.D. Pickens, who’s away chasing a missing person. Although she can’t be quite sure, Miss Julia thinks Mr. Pickens is in some kind of trouble. So she and her friend Etta Mae Wiggins (Ethel to Miss Julia’s Lucy) head off from North Carolina to West Virginia to find and rescue him. Then the fun ensues. Back at home, there’s another able-bodied man to rescue: Adam, the contractor who’s handling the renovations to Miss Julia and her husband Sam’s home. Miss Julia thinks he’s under the influence of a local woman whose mansion, it appears, may house a religious cult. All this adds up to great fun … humorous situations only Miss Julia could get herself into. And her adventures serve to distract her from the sad fact that Lloyd, the son of Hazel Marie and Miss Julia’s late unlamented husband, will be moving out of Miss Julia’s house. I love this series, and it’s one of the few that I collect in hardcover. They’re books to read, re-read and savor. Miss Julia is the best!

I thought this was one of the better Miss Julia books. She is a feisty older lady who thinks the world is at her beck and call and she is not afraid to take charge to get things done. I have watched her come from a cold hearted older woman to an older woman with a warm heart for those who she really loves and for the causes she believes in. This book displayed a lot of that warmheartedness: for Sam, for Lloyd, for Lillian, for Hazel Marie and the twins, and now, J. D. Pickens. This book made me laugh out loud, and I liked that.

As with all the other books in this series, Miss Julia to the Rescue is a rollicking adventure from beginning to end. Ann B. Ross just keeps getting better and better.

I've enjoyed all the books Ann wrote since moving the Hendersonville. Her use of language puts a smile on my face as I enjoy her tails.

With JD missing and Hazel Marie unable to go after him because of the twins, who but Miss Julia (riding shotgun for Etta Mae) would be the one to head to his rescue? From a possible cult on the outskirts of Abbotsville to Miss Julia's stint as one of the buddies in a buddy road trip, Miss Julia to the Rescue was a fun read in what has been become a very long series. It's been amazing to follow Miss Julia's growth, particularly in her love for her deceased husband's son, Lloyd. The same woman who was so worried about appearances and how to manage her household on her own has created a wonderful family unit.

I read her travels aoss US. Helpers along way, funny rescues. Arrived in time for birth of twins. I laughed at the every stop and transfer bus, train, truck, cycle side car, RV, boat, families, groups. I loved it and want to read it again. Cannot find title. Help please.

I really enjoyed this book and got through it very quickly because it built up very quickly and I kept wanting to find out what would happen next, no complaints on getting through this book! This was my first Miss Julia book, so I am going to start from the beginning of the series because I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. My only complaint is that it felt like it had two disparate stories that didn't necessarily have to go together. The first half of the book almost resolves, then a new story appears and I was still waiting for them to be tied together at the end. Hoping this isn't the case with each book, but at least it had me reading and not wanting to put the book down!

Excellent! Ann B. Ross did a great job. Miss Julia to the rescue of her family and friends, so very typical and expected. You just can't wait and see what she will do next. I have always loved these stories about Miss Julia and anyone who says they are boring just doesn't understand older people and probably never will. Can't wait for the next installment.

Another great book by Ann B Ross. I have read all of the Miss Julia books and this one did not disappoint. Miss Julia once again gets in over her head several times in fact in this particular tale. Her old fashioned values, southern charm and laugh out loud adventures will brighten your day. I recommend reading all of the Miss Julia books.

I have read all of Ann Ross' "Miss Julia" books but, to me,this one was not as good as the previous ones.

Great storytelling, fun plot, suspenseful, funny, endearing. Miss Julia to the Rescue was one of the most eloquently written works by Ann B. Ross, and even more tightly composed than her other fantastic works. There are a great number of characters taking center stage and a number of storylines weaving together. I thought Ms. Ross spun like a boss. My only complaint was the ending. A few of the most dramatic parts of the story were left unfinished, unanswered, unresolved, and unaddressed. I had to go back and read the ending three times to make sure I hadn't miss it all some how. Maybe my Nook had malfunctioned and skipped pages (as it tends to). Overall, another great Miss Julia story that will leave you wishing for a real-life friend just like Miss Julia.

Huge Miss Julia series fan. Well written and engaging just like all of the Miss Julia books. I did feel that Ms. Ross ran out of pages at the end of the book. Felt she ended the story quickly within a short amount of pages. However, that being said I am a huge fan and it was an enjoyable read.
