MISTRESS OF THE TWO LANDS by Edith Fiore (F) This novel is a creative biography of a real individual, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, a female pharaoh, who ruled with great success from 1479 B.C. to 1458 B.C. Edith Fiore, the author, has had a distinguished career as clinical psychologist and has written three books describing her pioneering work with past lives, spirit possession and extra terrestrial-human contact. For the past twenty years she has steeped herself in ancient Egyptian history. Such credentials equip Dr Fiore admirably to cover both the historical and the metaphysical aspects of the period. The result is an enthralling story containing both real and fictitious characters. The novel consists of four ‘books’, three on Hatshepsut and one on Nefer, a psychically-gifted child, who is taken from her family because of her powers of accurate prediction and trained to become high priestess, a role in which she later becomes a key advisor to the pharaoh. The story opens at a royal gathering, with a cobra attack on 11-year-old Hatshepsut (not yet a pharaoh) and it continues, from climax to climax, as the dynamics of the situation take effect. The characters are well-drawn. I found Hatshepsut, Nefer and the nonagenarian royal educator, Teta, particularly engaging. This is a good story in which the description of every-day events brings authenticity and captures our interest with its convincing detail. And what a woman this pharaoh is! I recommend it to anyone who likes to have history enlivened by creative biography. How better to see the life and times of Pharaoh Hatshepsut than through the professional gaze of this discerning author?

Readers of Doctor Edee Fiore’s previous works in the field of Hypnosis and Past Lives will not be disappointed in her latest offering. Built around the life and times of Queen Hatshepsut of ancient Egypt, Dr. Fiore’s novel, in the genre of historical fantasy, follows the intricately interwoven lives of a multitude of characters, many of them actual persons known from the archeological records, in a rich tapestry of dramatic interactions freely imagined as only Dr. Fiore can imagine them. Readers, be prepared for another experience of Dr. Fiore’s rich imagination! John_Gall, author of First Queen. A Historical Novel of Queen Hatshepsut of Ancient Egypt.

Mistress of the Two Lands is a joy to read. As a fan of ancient Egypt I loved Edith Fiore’s engaging historical novel that provides a fresh perspective on the life and times of Pharaoh Hatshepsut as a princess, queen, and ruling king of ancient Egypt. This methodically researched novel covers every historic aspect of life and thinking in ancient Egypt. John C. Hughes
