Mitch's Win by Ruth Ann Nordin

When Mitch Grady goes to a saloon to help his brother, he finds that his brother's horse isn't the only thing being offered in a poker game. Heather Curtiss' brother has bet her as well. Vowing an innocent woman won't be forced to give up her virtue to a disreputable gambler, Mitch joins the game. With luck, he wins and frees Heather.

Seeing this as her chance to get away from her brother, Heather appeals to Mitch's kindness. She proposes marriage and offers to help him care for two children and his ailing mother. He accepts, but Heather's brother hasn't gone away. And Mitch might find that keeping her is going to take more than a poker game.

From the first word, I fell in love with this book .  The characters in this book are great and so lovable.  You get sucked in from the very beginning.  Great start to a new series that leaves you begging for more.  This book was very well written.  I did not want the story to end.  I can not wait until the next two books are available.  Ruth Ann is a great writer and you will not be disappointed with this book.

This book was well written. Two people, meeting in less than ideal circumstances and embarking upon a marriage of convenience, try to make the best of their circumstances. In addition to the normal adaptations that occur when two people marry, this couple, has the added difficulty of being virtual strangers. It was interesting to see how the couple dealt with siblings coping with addictions. I applaud the author for her use of "tough love" in dealing with the siblings, when so many people want to enable those struggling individuals. There were more sex scenes than I prefer to read, however, they were not unexpected as the author had previously stated that she will include sex scenes in her novels. I do appreciate the fact that the scenes were done tastefully, and all within the sanctity of marriage. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to others that enjoy the western "marriage of convenience" genre. **This copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a western romance. It's a pretty good story. A bit graphic in spots, but OK. I would like to know what happens next. 18+ JS.

Had to like the way people related to one another. In so many stories there is one misunderstanding after another because the characters can't seem to have a conversation with one another. In this book if something bothers them they say it. If something makes them happy they say it. What a great idea. Also the heroine doesn't waste any time crying over a brother she barely knew who turns out to be a bum. She tells him to get lost and means it. Who wouldn't? He tried to use her as a poker chip for heavens sake. That's not a spoiler it was in the sample. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Disappointed that the next book is not ready to read . The book had some moments of wordiness and where the story seem skip in thought but overall it was a good read.

Excellent book!! Only 4 starts because I feel you can have an awesome romance without all the sexual content. I love this author's writing otherwise!!
