Cate Beauman writes the best romantic suspense I have read in a long time. Her stories start off great and the suspense keeps building up until the very end. Once I start reading I cannot stop until the very end. I am reading the Bodyguards of LA County and each story is a stand alone but include so many of the characters from the other books you will want to read them all. I give her 5 stars + for her books and look forward for more to come from this wonderful writer.

I received this book free from the author. I am voluntarily choosing to review it. I loved the premise of this story. So good. Even though Morgan is this really intelligent scientist, this doesn't mean that she's going to know how to survive in the forest and I think her father knew that, hence the bodyguard, Hunter. I loved the sparks between them. The danger is all around them and keeps you on the edge of your seat not knowing what will happen next. This is the first book I've read from this author and I enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading more and have already purchased the next book.

I cannot imagine how our brave men and women feel as they dodge IED’s and bullets in a foreign land, so… When Hunter was at Jake’s side in Afghanistan, as he lay dying, Jake made Hunter promise to take care of Sarah and the baby. Hunter had been injured himself and nightmares haunted his sleep. Morgan didn’t hurt for money, but she worked hard anyway. She and her friends were the six Musketeeers and committed to their environmental work…until three are found murdered. She seeks answers with a vengeance. She is a scientist doing wildlife research, not a fighter, so her dad’s solution…Ethan Cooke Security and Hunter is assigned to work with her. This is my favorite type of reading. I do want a high degree of suspense and I feel it throughout…waiting for the culprits to show themselves and the confrontation that will result. Making this mystery even harder to solve, is their location, alone in the wilderness. Two strong personalities clash and the verbal foreplay begins. Sparks are flying from their first meeting. Of course, we knew this was coming. After all, Morgan’s Hunter is a romantic suspense, so I would be hugely disappointed if it didn’t. Cate Beauman does a fabulous job of creating desire and painful denial, the characters not allowing themselves to act on their attraction. Their denial creates it own suspense and anticipation as I wait for them to act on their feelings. I keep waiting for them to drop their guard and get it on. I knew something would happen before they left the forest. I hate the way it happened, but it had to be that way. Sometimes Morgan acts like a spoiled brat and it makes me wonder about myself. I can be obstinate and cantankerous when someone tries to boss me around. Would I do that in her situation? Greed, money, power…who knows what will cause a person to corrupt themselves. The danger doesn’t end when I thought it would. I love that Cate kept me on pins and needles, sneaking in the last tidbits of goodness, choosing the time when I can take a breath and say, “OMG, What’s next?.” This fabulous series stands alone and ranks high on my reading list. I can hardly wait to read more. I voluntarily reviewed Morgan’s Hunter by Cate Beauman.

I enjoyed Morgan's Hunter.

Action packed story, that at times had me in tears, and at times, scared for survival. The book starts with a vivid, realistic scene from the war in Afghanistan, that had me biting my nails, with tears in my eyes. It's heartbreaking, yet amazing moment, where the brotherhood of the soldiers is brilliantly proven. The sorrow, the remorse, the agony of those who survived, is palpable, and beautifully written. As the story progress, the action and suspense is tight, tense, with twist and unexpected elements. I liked the setting of the Montana backwoods, and the fact that they were not only fighting against the human threat in the woods, the wildlife came close to them as well, with its own dangerous moments. I liked both Morgan and Hunter. Morgan is a devoted daughter, respected professional, yes, she is a bad driver, stubborn, willful, and ornery, when put into a corner, but she had her moments. Hunter is loyal, protective, caring, a guardian for those he cares about, and vigilant in his job. But when together, both Hunter and Morgan seems to be the worse version of themselves. Hunter is frustrated with her ornery behavior, so he keeps secrets from her, those secrets make her behave recklessly, causing them to be in danger, and to be even more stubborn, if possible. They really don't like each other, and too often it is mentioned, that Hunter grabbed, yanked, or pulled her, resorting to physically control her. The physical attraction is palpable, but for them to fall in love, when they didn't even like each other most of the time, not to mention trust, or respect, I thought was a stretch. So the characters are not my favorite ones, but for the suspense, the intriguing trek in the wilderness, I will give ~ Three Spoons

Half way through the book and it's just not working for me. The two main characters seem so "smart" but are making rediculously dangerous decisions. I am skipping over quite a bit, but will have to force myself to finish it.

Reviewed by Samantha Rivera for Readers' Favorite Morgan is absolutely certain that what happened to her friends is a terrible and highly tragic accident. After all, who would purposely target three young adults who were doing nothing more than looking for animals in a nature preserve? So when she decides to travel out to their last known location to finish the research (and possibly learn more about their deaths) she’s certain there’s no danger to her. Of course, convincing her father of that is impossible so he hires a sexy ex-special ops body guard to watch over his precious daughter. What happens between them however is far more than he ever could have expected in Morgan’s Hunter by Cate Beauman. This story definitely fascinated me from beginning to end. Hunter and Morgan live such entirely different lives from each other and from what you would expect, given their place in life. After all, Morgan is filthy rich but prefers to spend her days slogging through the back country with wild animals. Hunter, on the other hand, is a bodyguard who’s often paid to watch out for girls from her circle of life as they head to salons and shopping trips. They’re definitely not prepared for each other but it’s interesting when the two come together.  I loved the way that these two individuals had so many flaws and so many problems coming together but they managed to overcome it all in the end. It was amazing how they managed to set aside their differences (which made them seem like real people instead of just fictional people on a page) and make sacrifices to be together. Morgan’s Hunter is a great story of romance and intrigue that will keep you on your toes throughout.

This is a new to me author, and of course my first book by her and I have to say it will not be my last.  I loved the romance and suspense characteristics.  The characters were developed wonderfully, you almost felt as if you were sitting there watching the scene play out.  I thought I had the bad guy pegged, then I kept guessing, it was great to see it all unravel. I can't wait to keep going in this series.

I'm always looking for new authors to read, so to find one whose written three enjoyable books was a real treat. Easy reads that are full of romance and suspence. I didn't want to put them down and can't wait to read her next book.

ARC (advanced readers copy) Freaking LOVE this series! Just when I thought Ethan Cooke was all THAT! (I read book 2 first). I loved every bit of of Morgan's Hunter. The moment Hunter is assigned to protect Morgan, the heat is on! Their first encounter immediately embarks on a love/hate relationship. Hunter is in for one helluva mission when he realizes Morgan is not the snotty, rich daddy's girl he's used to babysitting. She knocks his socks off *make that his pants* with killer looks and one sweet little bod to go with her hot temper. She's determined, feisty, mouthy, and hell-on-wheels... and he's falling for her. Hard. And fast. And she's going to get them killed if she continues to disobey orders. Feeling's mutual. Morgan cannot resist Hunter's sexy-as-hell appeal. But, his all-too-sudden mood swings have her doubting him. Her heart is in his hands and he doesn't even know it, and despite her best efforts to push him away, swallow her unwanted feelings, temptation is far too great. He pushes all the right buttons, and he pisses her off! She wants to hate him, but no matter how hard she tries, he always works his way back in, and Morgan doesn't want him there because that's not a direction she can protect herself from. And that's not an option she wants to take. Discovering an illegal operation in the rocky regions where Morgan's best friend's lives were all-too-suddenly ripped away, they face the dangers that could ultimately destroy them both. Their lives are on the line, their hearts dithering, but when secrets are revealed, tempers boil out of control, and control is something Hunter cannot afford to lose. He will do whatever it takes, even if it means breaking her heart, and his, to save her life. The journey to survive, the passion and heated scenes, to the slippery and rugged terrain, Morgan's Hunter is thrilling, stimulating, and electrifying with plenty of flame that begs you to keep reading! I cannot say enough about The Bodyguards of L.A. County, other than... I WANT MORE! And I'm going to have it! Rumor has it, there are 4 books to the series (maybe more?)! And I want all of them! So good! You won't be disappointed!
