This was so much fun! My babe Lauren/Northern Plunder told me it was good when I was picking out 3 for 2 Image comics at Barnes and Noble (best sale, by the way). I finally got to it and oh man, what a ride, if I may pun so bold. To be fair, I was skeptical because I’m not into sports and I’m not into racing, but this is so much more than that. Lesbian MC who just went through a breakup with the cutest glowing pink child I ever did see, and she races for illegal drugs because she needs them to stay alive. Think the movie Crank, but easier to follow. The description makes the drug seem like it’s for the bike, but it’s not, it’s just a regular drug. This volume ended on a crazy cliff-hanger and I’m dying to get my hands on volume two, but it’s not out until June 2018, so here I am waiting. Also, I would die for Lola, just saying.

LOVED THIS! Motor Crush follows the awesomely-named Domino Swift, a motorcycle racer in a futuristic world where the biggest danger in racing is crush, a technological drug that makes engines go faster (or potentially blowup). Dom has a secret — she races in illegal, highly dangerous street races to win crush. But the reason she needs the drug is completely unexpected. I loved the plot twists! The world is so cool and techy, and the art captures it perfectly with digital-style illustration and pink highlights everywhere. There were so many awesome side characters that each had unique designs to capture their personalities (from the other racers to Dom's dad to her ex-girlfriend), so it's as exciting visually as it is in terms of plot. The stakes got so high and the ending was such a shock! I need the next volume! Definitely read this for a gritty-but-pretty fast paced futuristic adventure.
