Overview

Mountain Angel (Northstar Angels #1) by Suzie O'Connell

A strong-willed woman, a heart-weary deputy, and a cozy mountain cabin. What could possibly go wrong... or right? Aelissm Davis and Pat O'Neil are about to find out.

A talented crafter in a male-dominated field, Aelissm is perfectly capable of managing her own affairs, but when it comes to an obsessive friend, she may be in over her head. When returning home to Northstar doesn't get her point across, she swallows her pride and calls in reinforcements. Unfortunately, her meddling uncle's solution-send his best deputy "on vacation" to protect her-could be an even bigger complication. With sad eyes and a gentle heart, Deputy O'Neil is definitely that.

For three years, Pat has buried himself in his work to get past a violent relationship, and it hasn't done him any good. Maybe this assignment to protect his boss's niece will give him the perspective he needs. Aelissm is an irresistible breath of fresh mountain air and like no woman he's ever met, but as his heart learns how to breathe again, her past entwines with his and trouble comes knocking. Will she let him do his job, or will her stubborn independence put them both in danger?

About the Author

Suzie O'Connell is the USA TODAY bestselling author of the Northstar romances. The series is the product of a love affair with Southwestern Montana that began with a two-week adventure at her stepsister's rustic cabin in her teens. That love affair shows no sign of abating.

She has been writing stories for as long as she can remember, and her love of writing and of Montana pushed her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Writing from the University of Montana-Western. What else would you expect from a self-professed mountain-loving nerd?

When she isn't writing, you'll probably find Suzie in the mountains with a camera in hand and enjoying the beauty of Montana with her husband Mark, their daughter Maddie, and their golden retriever Reilly.

Could have left out the sex scenes. This book could sell without them.

A 270 page well-written free romantic book with mystery, angst, and soap opera traditions set in mountains of Montana. A good modern read.

This is a very slow read. It is the first in a series, free and a parial cliff hanger. The sex scenes are pretty steamy, when the author decides to finally get to them. This is a romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. The efiting is good. There is some strong violence, but no guts and gore. I started skipping pages, hoping something would happen. Nothing really interesting ever did. After awhile, it seemed very unbelivable. The details of Northstar, Devyln and the mountian were very good and almost paints a picture in the reader's mind. I like the 12 year old very much. He is exactly what a 12 year old should be. For adults. Over long for the subject matter and rather boring. AD

I enjoyed this story. The characters seemed real and their dilemmas understandable. Some might harp about things eventually working out too easily, but I was okay with that. The writing was well-done, though there were two or three editorial mistakes that I recall seeing. Grammar was acceptable, and the 'bedroom' scenes were not overdone. I was pleased with the way the author dealt with the ability of people to change, from good to bad or bad to good, and how healing can occur even when wounds are deep. I recommend this book and this author.

I agree with another review, we don't need the sex scenes. It's a good book without them.

It mostly takes place in a small town called Northstar, The lead characters are people with a past that is hidden from others but there feelings for each other may be what it will take to get over the past. Strong, sweet and feminine women is the underlying current of the story.

I enjoyed this book. I think a little more background on fiance would have shored up the story a bit more, but overall it was a good book. I also liked the characters and how it shows that not only women get abused. And how you don't have to remain a victum but can be a not only a survivor, but you can actually thrive.
