The only job open to her is working in her family's southern pasta shop, and, to make matters worse, her first assignment is serving baked ziti to her former lover and his spoiled bride-to-be at their engagement party! But a broken heart and a bruised ego are the least of Andy's troubles when she discovers a dead body at the party with the words "welcome home" written in flour next to it. Is it a warning? A threat? Or a frame-up job? Andy is determined to find out. With the help of her over-the-top Italian family, Andy will prove that she has what it takes to not only cook the best dish in town but also catch a killer, too!

This first installment of the Pasta Shop Mystery series is an entertaining read. Andy is forced to move back to her hometown when her hopes of hosting a television cooking show end in disaster. Andy's family has high hopes that she will save the family pasta shop, but disaster strikes again when a body is found while she is catering a party. Throw in her ex who is now engaged to her old nemesis and a hunky half brother of the same nemesis and sparks fly. The book is filled with wonderful pasta recipes as well. Looking forward to the next installment!

It would be best to read this exciting story after you have eaten as the recipes will more than likely make you hungry for pasta. Jennifer Hart has come up with an unusual plot for a murder of a chef that keeps the reader unwilling to put the book down. Although wanting to try one of the recipes might make the reader take a break.

This is a very entertaining book and has a bonus of some great recipes at the end of each chapter. This is like getting two books for one. Andy goes home after losing her chance at being a TV chef hoping to get her confidence back. Of course that would be too easy, she gets involved in one mishap after another including being a suspect in a murder. I love this book!!! I can't wait to see what she gets into next. Great characters and a very enjoyable read!

A great, fun novel!   Jennifer L. Hart is a master in the new world of the cozy mystery.  She starts with the tine honored formula and breathes contemporary life into her novels. Her characters are so real that I either hate them or want to hug them.  Andy returns to her small home town out of concern for her grandfather’s health.  Once she arrives her world is turned upside down, first by a new guy she ran into, literally, then by the news that the family pasta shop may have to be sold, and finally by the murder of a man she detests.  As a possible suspect, she feels she has to find the real killer and it doesn’t hurt that a certain newcomer with a hot accent joins forces with her in her investigation.

I thought the author forgot someone was murdered. It took awhile for the author to get back to the murder.

I really enjoyed Murder Al Dente. I really liked Andy, I can't say anything bad about her. She is hard working and hard headed, two of my favorite things in a character. I like Jones too, he is hard not to like. I love her Aunt Cecily. She is always calling someone some kind of a pig in Italian. FUNNY! The recipes at the end of each chapter sound to die for and yes there is one at the end of each chapter! I can not wait to read what Andy does in her next mystery!

Another slam dunk for Gemma Halliday Publishing! This is a great start to a book series. It give you a little insight into every character in town, well just enough to keep you coming back for more. I love the main character Andy. She is a very relatable character. The story is upbeat but keep you guessing till the end. Added bonus is the great recipes at the beginning of each chapter--and there are very yummy. Looking forward to the next in this series.

This book was wonderfully quirky. I cannot believe the mind of Ms. Hart. Where does she find these characters? Our heroine this time is Andrea ( Andy) Buckman, who has returned to the town she grew up in to assess the state of her dwindling family and see if she might give their pasta shop, The Bowtie Angel a much needed boost before it closes due to lack of business. Andy moves back in with her grandfather, helping him deal with being a new widower as well as some health issues. And Aunt Cicely, her late Nonni's partner in the business whose customer service, or genuine lack thereof, might kill it all together. Add an ex who's marrying her nemisis, her half brother who is good enough to eat, and some faurly simple but mouth watering recipes, and you have a five star review and people clamboring for a second helping. I have yet to read a bad Jennifer L. Hart book, and this is a secret worth sharing

Great Book!! This is a great start of a new series! This is the first book that I have read by this author and really enjoyed it. Andy grew up cooking in her family’s pasta shop but wanted more. She has dreamed of being a chef. Her dreams come true when she has a chance to host her own cooking show; however, the audience ends up with food poisoning during her first show. She ends up losing her show, so she packs up and heads home. She gets home and finds out that her families pasta shop is in danger of closing down because they are losing money.  Andy agrees to cook for an engagement party, and while there ends up finding a dead body. Now Andy must find a way to save her families pasta shop and find out who is the killer. This book had me guessing until the end and I was surprised who the killer was.  I can’t wait to read more books in this series, as well as other books by this author.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
