Overview

Three bizarre and seemingly unrelated murders occur in Cleveland. Why? By whom? What do these murders/victims share in common? Mollie Tate and Detective Debra Stanton, an unlikely pair, end up working together to answer these questions. Mollie Tate works as an investigator for the Humane Society in Cleveland. And Det. Stanton investigates murders in Cleveland's District 2. So what brings them together? Initially, it's Mollie's belief that there is a connection between some animal abuse crimes her office is investigating and the murdered victims under Stanton's watch.

Amidst murder, love slowly and unexpectedly blooms. Tate and Stanton, both from different yet troubled worlds, form an unlikely partnership to solve these unsettling crimes as they both strive to separate themselves from their ex-lovers and move forward in their love lives.

thought the characters were realistic and interesting. The story line kept the suspense until the very end. What appealed to me as a Clevelander were the references to local area attractions and landmarks. There are so few lesbian writers that capture the innuendos, essence and difficulties of same-sex relationships, and this novel made all of that real. The Native American "seer" drew me into the story with his mysticism and connection to one of the main characters. This story will appeal to su

Meet the Author

Born and raised in Ohio, I yearn for the sunshine and deserts of Arizona! Until my dream is achieved, I peacefully reside in the midwest. Since 1999, I've been happily teaching composition and literature, as well as developing new courses, at a local community college, and hold the title of Associate Professor, English. A published poet and essayist, I now have my first novel published! And I have under review some short stories and poems this year as well.

I've always wanted a large family, and boy do I have one...of the animal and aviary kind, all rescued! With my partner, we have a Greyhound, a Boxer-Saluki, a Budgie, a geriatric Lab-Corgi mix [can you picture this?], and an extremely old black cat. Oh, and did I mention I've got two beautiful stepdaughters as well?

Familiar with this poem, allegedly by Emerson, titled "Success"? "To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." At heart, I'm a Transcendentalist with a strong Native American spirituality, and I hope, if I'm to be judged at all, to be measured by the spirit of this poem and philosophy!

Laugh...Love...Live...Be good to yourself and others!

Peace!
