Ewan Cameron, estranged grandson of the Duke of Lotheil, is in London because of a deathbed promise made to his father and has no intention of staying beyond his three month obligation. Nothing can tempt him to remain, not even Lily, the beautiful bluestocking determined not only to restore relations between him and his grandfather, but to turn Ewan into a proper gentleman. Ewan, proud of his Scottish heritage, refuses to admit that Lily, a blue-eyed, English girl, has claimed his heart. It doesn't matter that his big lump of a sheepdog is madly in love with her. Nor is it significant that Ewan can always tell Lily apart from her identical twin sister. Always. Lily Farthingale, the scholarly twin, dreams of becoming the first female member of the Royal Society. She grabs at the chance when the elderly Duke of Lotheil approaches her with a proposition - he'll admit her into the Royal Society, if she helps him to establish a relation with his estranged grandson, Ewan Cameron, a very rough-around-the-edges Scotsman who hates everything English. Between shootings, explosions, and Lily's abduction, Ewan ends up falling in love with Lily in this Pygmalion-inspired story.

My Fair Lily is a surface romance with little depth. It wasn't all that engaging, and the characters' inner monologues proved to be quite distracting and a bit corny. There were a few humorous and enjoyable moments, but for the most part, it was fluff. Also, as another review suggested, it does seem that this could've been the third in a series, rather than the first. ***I received a free copy of this book, and in exchange, I have provided an honest review.***

Very good though order in series is confusing.

I loved the first half of this book, but then it became a cliche. The kidnapping was bad enough but then the explosion was the last straw.

A very captivating story you won't be able to put down! So many funny lines! My absolute favorite was the sisters smiling like fillies lined up to have their teeth inspected at a horse sale! I found myself laughing out loud. And i loved the dog! These girls are keepers! And Lily is one of my favorites! Lovely read!

My Fair Lily is book one in The Farthingale Series by Meara Platt. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Platt does a great job of developing her characters and giving them each their own unique personalities. I think I fell a little bit in love with the hero - Ewan Cameron. He is a braw Scot. Lily is the intelligent twin in the series. A bluestocking who is wonderfully naive of the ways of romance and love. There were several laugh out loud moments and some steamy scenes as well. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Jasper was an outstanding character. He was perfect and made it an extra fun read. All of the characters seemed real. I loved the wit and romance of the book but not all of the intrigue. I will search for more stories from this author.

The Farthingale's are a loving family but not all of them are strictly up to speed on what they should or should not be doing! Lily, who is an authentic bluestocking loves reading, learning, attending all or mostly male lectures about science. She has been helping a friend write a paper---definitely not your typical English lady of that century--much to her Mothers despair! Lily has a twin who helps her escape from those boring social parties she is supposed to attend--they are identical twins. Almost no one can tell them apart--her uncle can--and then A big hairy English sheepdog takes an instant liking to her when he spots her on the street. Down she goes--the dogs owner is mortified. Lily has no idea this Scot is the grandson of one of the most prominent men around--she thinks he is a pauper or something like that. That loving dog ruins more of Lily's dresses along the way (as well as expensive household items)--Ewan-the Big Brawny Scotsman-keeps making reparations. As loving a family as the Farthingales are--is how hateful Ewans's family is. Lily is bound and determined to fix this---- So amid shootings, stabbings and a kidnapping--will Ewen discover what his dog already knows? Lily is the only woman for him--will the dastardly grandfather relent and give up his miserable ways? Read this book to find out. You will be very glad you did!

The story was a bit simple and naive, as was Lilly, the main character. The love scenes were a bit dispassionate but overall not horrible

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Jasper, Lily, and Ewan's story as that is how I think of it. Jasper fell in love first and jumped on her knocking her down in the puddle where Ewan saved the day. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

I really liked this story and the way it progressed! Lily and Ewan met via his dog's actions and the aftermath/mix-up was hilarious! Jasper the dog was a comic relief throughout the book with his reactions to Lily and I loved those! The way Ewan was able to act with Lily's family made me love him as well. Lily was so open and loving to everyone around her even when they didn't deserve it. I'm going to soon be buying the next book as well to see who gets their story next!

Meara Platt is a new-to-me author, I won this book in a social media contest. That being said, I will definitely be reading more of her books. This book was funny, entertaining and kept me interested from the first page to the last. Lily is a bluestocking who is compassionate and helps anyone, her only dream is to join The Royal Society. Because she is a girl she is thwarted at every turn. Ewan is in London to reconcile with his estranged family due to a deathbed promise to his father. Ewan meets Lily on the street as his big dog knocks her down into a puddle and the next few times are a repeat of the first meeting. They begin spending more time together and attacks on them begins happening. Through their many adventures a sweet, charming love story develops.

This is the story of Lily and Ewan.  She is a very bookish young lady with spirit and a very big heart.  Her first encounter with Ewan involves a dog who falls in love with her at first sight.  It takes the Highlander a while longer to realize the same.  Ewan feels very protective of Lily and does his best to watch over her, especially after an attack on Lily.  As they try to figure out who attacked her and why, Lily teaches Ewan and his estranged family that family is of the utmost importance and helps them overcome their differences.  I look forward to the next story.

So this was an incredibly cute story. The only reason Ewan traveled to London from the highlands of Scotland was because of a deathbed wish to his father to spend 3 months with his estranged grandfather. But nothing will make him stay longer than the requisite 3 months - nothing except Lily, a bluestocking twin. Ewan is adamant about a couple things in his life - that he will never reconcile with his horrid grandfather and that he will never marry an English lady. And yet, his dog is trying to get him to break both vows. Lily, for her part, has never been the life of the party or the focus of any man, so she definitely can't believe that Ewan would prefer her affections or attentions. And yet, he does and she struggles with that realization. Overall, it was an incredibly sweet story of love between a woman, a man, and his dog.

I read this in a day. It has all the things I look for in a good romance: Adventure, witty repartee, well developed characters, and true love. This book is well written and fluid. You can see why the characters fall in love. I always enjoy a good book with a blue stocking or a wallflower and a man who's not brooding about. As women, I find it's best for us to have a backbone and a partner not a savior. I can't wait to read her next novel! Already on my ebooks!
