My Love Story!!, Vol. 3 by Kazune Kawahara, Aruko

Takeo Goda is a giant guy with a giant heart. Too bad the girls don’t want him! (They want his good-looking best friend, Sunakawa.) Used to being on the sidelines, Takeo simply stands tall and accepts his fate. But one day when he saves a girl named Yamato from a harasser on the train, his (love!) life suddenly takes an incredible turn!

A trip to the mountains means unexpected surprises and adventure for Takeo and Yamato—especially when they get lost! As night falls, will they spend the evening together alone? More importantly, who will be the first one to make a move?!

The author and the illustrator does a pretty good job in this work. the characters, the plot and setting. The characters are have their charms. Like the main character Takeo, he's what we should strive to be. Kind, caring and gives everything 100% effort. Though he does tend to over exaggerate at times. Another character is his love interest Yamato, she is very cute in design and personality and I think she makes a good match for Takeo. Another character I like in this series is Takeo's best friend Suna aka Sunakawa. This character is handsome and though he may not show it is kind as well. In the series he plays the straight man for Takeo. Sometimes he would tell his friend what he is doing is wrong. Often times he would make funny comments on what his friend is doing. He is honest about himself and to his friend. For example he is Takeo's "voice of reason" and often give him advice when his friend comes and asks. For example he tells Takeo to act like himself when he's with Yamato since she likes Takeo for who he is. Often times when I read this comic I see myself relate to Takeo in some ways. For example when he does good deeds for strangers he rarely gets thanked nor noticed (often times his friend is the one that is thanked). Whenever he like a girl she always tend to fall for his friend and sometimes badmouths him behind his back. These experiences I'm not unfamiliar with. Takeo is very likeable since the artist goes over the time with his facial reactions. Whenever I read these comic I can't help but laugh on how silly it is. The romance story is what a good romance should be done. With genuine feelings based on other traits besides looks. At least this romance story's plot does not seem drag on (meaning the author does not try stall the plot with pointless filler like another series that is currently running) I've enjoyed the series so far and I may check out other series the author written.
