Until you experience wide range disaster which encompasses all people and services, including cut off from the rest of the world as information TV and radio and their people had the same damages and lack of power resources and need of rescue. Unless you had acess to a satelite phone there wasn't outside contact. No emergency storages were undamaged. You cannot dream of the problems which can occur. The red tape and management protocols are the worse diversion of timely help. No 2 day cities our US military set up as in other countries. If we had gas we still were not allowed in or out. Not until the national guard and large refrigerated trrucks could get in and the obvious dead hidden. No water until the sixth day for the masses. Outside help from average people across America were the real beneficial help to all, when they were finally allowed in, not for a select few. Contact average people involved in this disaster and you will hear nonpolitical, class truthful, without positive thinking and position juggling obscuring the truth. New Orleans had a catagory 1 wind from Hurricane Katrina. There was not enough working levee pumps to keep the warer out. The people suffered because their politions spent money collected for.more levee pumps and pump repair on such things as pacifying pro football demands and expences. Setting up an orchestra and other surface projects the city could not afford until its problems and its poverty and gang problems was addressed. They mismanaged and politely overlooked the needs of the poor, most did not own transportation and the large gang element involved in problems of relocation and the super dome. The coastal areas of the Miss (Ms) coast were bombarded with a slow moving catagory 4 and 5 Major Hurricane Katrina and days later with a second distructive Hurricane. Until you have rifle toteing frowning National guide treating all as theives and looters you won't unnderstand the damage to your soul. Now our sea beds are covered with oil while we participate in covering this up; worried about our tourism future survival.
