If this book had been titled 'How to Hand Mill Store Bought Soap' I would have given it 5 stars. Excellent material on rebatching and presentation but this book has nothing to do with making home-made soap from scratch.

I haven't tried anything yet, but I can't wait!

The good: nice ideas for gift packaging, recipes for bath salts and oils. The not so good: almost all of the soap recipes are purchased glycerine melt and pour, with "natural" additives, rather than cold process, as I had hoped. Rather outdated in the age of Martha Stewart...will probably donate this to a crafty friend, rather than keep it for reference.

"Natural Soapmaking" by Marie Browning is a good book for people who want to creat their own soaps using already-made bar soap or melt-and-pour soap. Those who wish to begin by creating their own fat and lye soap from scratch will not find this book as helpful, however, once they have made their own plain soap, "Natural Soapmaking" would be a very good guide for creating specialty soaps using their handmade soap as a base material. I recommend "Matural Soapmaking" as a valuable part of any homecraft bookshelf.

I love this book. Tons of recipes, not just for handmilled soaps, but for bath fizzies, oils etc. A wonderful NATURAL ingrediant book!

Great book..... Simple, but creative ideas for the novice or advanced soap maker. This book has good ideas for labeling and even better giftbasket ideas. The ingredients are easy to find and best of all...natural...no lye.....No lie, this book is da bomb!!! (translation-great)
