Naughty by Nature by J.M. Madden

Cheyenne has too much on her table to even consider letting a man into her life, especially now that it seems her abusive ex is sniffing around her daughters. She's terrified that he's going to want to insert himself into their lives again.
Sheriff Sheridan Lane was unable to rescue the beautiful Cheyenne in time seven years ago, but he's going to do everything in his power to make sure she and her girls stay safe this time around. The best way to do that is to move them into his house where he can keep an eye on everything. His own daughter isn't wild about the prospect, but even she starts to come around.
Once they're under his roof, it's so easy to envision the temporary turning into the permanent.
He vows to catch the bad guy, but what else will he have to do to prove he's the man for Cheyenne?

About the Author

NY Times and USA Today Bestselling author J.M. Madden writes compelling romances between 'combat modified' military men and the women who love them. J.M. Madden loves any and all good love stories, most particularly her own. She has two beautiful children and a husband who always keeps her on her toes.
J.M. was a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio for nine years, until hubby moved the clan to Kentucky. When not chasing the family around, she's at the computer, reading and writing, perfecting her craft. She occasionally takes breaks to feed her animal horde and is trying to control her office-supply addiction, but both tasks are uphill battles. Happily, she is writing full-time and always has several projects in the works. She also dearly loves to hear from readers! So, drop her a line. She'll respond.

Story of another Lowell sibling, sister to Chad and Brock. Cheyenne is a divorcee, scared of every man and afraid for her future and that of her three girls. Cheyenne's husband had brutalized her and he had been released from prison to haunt her again. Even worse, he wanted to visit "his girls". Sheriff Sheridan Lane has been attracted to Cheyenne for years but has stayed away from her because of her skittishness. When she needs him, though, he is there. The story also revolves around the four girls, three of Cheyenne's and Sheridan's teenager Olivia. They and the two dogs fit together pretty well. The final scene in the book involves all the Lost and Found team arriving in Honeywell for Chad and Lora's wedding shower. All the couples are flourishing and it's good to see them again.

I'll have to say up front that Sheriff Sheridan Lane is too good to be true. He's kind, caring, strong, protective, sexy and good-hearted. He's been somewhat especially protective from a distance of Cheyenne since her now ex-husband raped, beat her up and left her for dead in their front yard several years ago. The ex, Wade, is out of prison on parole but not happy with how things are. Sheridan has Cheyenne and her three girls come stay at his place until they can locate Wade and see what he's up to. Can something good come out of this bad situation? Can Sheridan and Cheyenne's time spent together help fill an empty place in each others lives? I love a good romance. Started the book and didn't put it down until I finished.
