Dee Henderson writes a very descriptive story but sometimes she gets overly "wordy" and repeats things that we already know...

A Fantastic Book! This is NOT a chick flick. The story starts out with a bang and keeps on going. There is a little bit of everything, an engaging, suspenseful tale with Christian values. There's romance built through trust and admiration without sex, action and suspense without profanity, and faith present naturally. I really enjoyed the technical details that made it realistic for me especially the interaction between the various law-enforcement and civil protectors. I loved seeing how they worked together to solve the crime. We also see the bond that is created by those who suffer adversity together. I love the way the O’Malley family love and support one another. They really personify what it is to be a family even though they are not so by blood. I found Kate’s personal spiritual journey to be real as well. An overall great read for everyone. (Older teen and above)

I first read this series a few years ago while doing a lot of traveling. I couldn't put them down and shed many a tear (frequently while on a flight.... I am sure people thought I had a bad case of fear of flying) in sympathy or excitement for these hero's! A must read for people who enjoy good Christian fiction.

I didn't realize this was a Christian lit book when I picked it up (I am not the biggest fan), but the book was good, the story and characters held my interest. I liked that there were no big sex scenes

While I am not a person who is of a religious persuasion, I did enjoy the storyline, the characters and the quality writing that this book had. Will read more of the series hoping they too will be as well done.

I absolutely love this series. I love how Dee is able to weave their journey of faith without overpowering the story. I have read all except #5 and #6 and I am already dreading coming to the end. Once I start one of the books, it is almost impossible to put it done with all of the action and suspense. I fell in love with the O"Malley family as Dee brought their stories to life. Loved to see how the romance blossomed with the couples. Hope she decides to give us more on this family.

Dee Henderson hits it out of the park for a Christian novel. Her real characters are brought together with great story lines. It is one of my favorites that I will read over and over

Kate O'Malley is an amazing character. As this series continues I always had a special fondness for Kate, because she was the first. Clean dramatic suspense!

This book has everything. Action, great characters, romance, and a mysterious crime. It's a great read. (PS. It's only PG-13 rated at the most. Discount the other review.)

Dee Henderson does a great job of blending suspense and romance. I love how she incorporates Christian values into her story lines. The premise of the O'Malley series is very original. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is the first book I read of hers. My friend was always telling me how great her books were. And she was right. I got sucked into the storyline and couldn't put it down. Very deep characters and very inspirational.

The O'Malley series is about a group of young adults who have formed a family, they aren't blood related. They grew up in an orphanage and looked out for each other, and then later changed their last names to O'Malley, giving each kid who everyone wants, a family. The Negotiator is the first in the series, about Kate O'Malley. It's starts right off in a bank, Kate is called in and finds that there is a FBI agent as one of the hostages. Eventually they strike up a friendship, but Dave (Mr. FBI) wants it to be more. Only Kate isn't a Christian. This one is a really good read, I'd like to say it's my favorite of the O'Malley's series, but you fall in love with each character. And I can relate to each of them. I'd recommend you pick this one up. Two thumbs up.

An excellent, fast paced, mysterious, and Christian read. I highly recommend it; and the rest of the series as well.

This is the book that got me hooked on the O’Malleys. Dee Henderson does not disappoint. The characters she creates leave lasting impressions, and the theological mysteries interwoven in their stories are the real dilemmas we struggle with in real life. I love how she manages a Biblical conclusion to life’s perplexities without becoming preachy.

First off, I TOTALLY missed the tag in Amazon that said this was Christian Fiction as I usually don't find these appealing and I'm afraid this one did nothing to change my opinion of the genre. The story is based on Kate, a negotiator who is very good at her job, and a threat that appears and takes on a whole new angle. The hero in this is Dave (!) who is British and of course, has to be rich, lives in a mansion and owns his own private jet - as all of us British people do - obviously!! The romance and suspense take this story along nicely and I do like the rest of the O'Malley family (although I couldn't help thinking about O'Malley the Alley Cat from the Aristocats every time I read it!). There is a hint of an abused childhood as you know that Kate lived in an orphanage from the age of 9 even though her parents were still living but you don't find out any of the details. Unfortunately, I missed half of the book as I was skipping through the religious parts. It started off ok but then at page 50 it all started to be brought in. Dave tells his sister that "She's not a believer, Sara," and "those words left a deep void inside; he felt like a prize of great value had been snatched away." So you now know that she's not even worth considering as a partner unless she believes. "Those ideas had be stillborn with the discovery that she was not a Christian". He then goes on to talk about Friendship Evangelism and how he wants to be able to "make her listen, make her believe". WHAT? I seem to remember something about freedom of will but hey, I guess that doesn't matter if you're not a Christian! The rest of the book is either him preaching at her, her sister Jennifer preaching at her (because she has cancer with a high death rate and therefore is worried about Kate's soul and needs to convert her before she dies) or Dave praying to god. At one point Kate even says that "You're trying to change me" but seems ok with that. And then someone else reassures Dave that "she'll believe, she has to". Take away all of the religious talk and preaching, and Dave's angst about her not being a Christian, and this would be quite a good Romance/Suspense book. However, as it is, I've made myself finish it, I didn't enjoy it and I definitely won't be reading any more books in the series even though I loved the O'Malley family. I'm giving it two stars based upon the Romance/Suspense part of the book. ** The genres of this book have now been changed from Romance Suspense to Inspirational Religion Christian Romance ** Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
