About the Author
Marilyn is a debut paranormal romance novelist. She enjoys the characters that just don't fit in. From witches to time traveling researchers, she is letting her imagination soar to explore new worlds and write all the details down. Marilyn has traveled to Paris, London, Sydney, and Munich. She loves to include these in her settings as much as can allow. Best of all is letting her reader enjoy them through the perspective of a character. She currently lives in Northern California with her husband and cat. The cat, of course, is the center of attention.

If the premise of this story was summed up in song it would be a country tune about a good woman treated wrong by her man who makes him pay. In this paranormal novella that is the first in the Beware of Warlocks series witch Catherine comes home to find her warlock husband Rich in bed with her best friend and sets off to escape a Battle Royale but ends up finding love and a sense of freedom along the way. Catherine is an immensely likable heroine with powers of her own who's crushed by the betrayal of someone she felt deeply connected to. Her reactions are that of any other mortal woman and I applauded her cross-country journey to find herself and her self-esteem once again. It doesn't hurt that she meets up with a sexy hitchhiking Australian who's not completely what he appears but who helps her find herself and empowers her against the ex who's always one step behind. Jeff makes Catherine feel whole and is a trustworthy support even though they just met. They make a formidable couple and I'm excited to see where their journeys take them as their future's just begun. The action moves at a fast pace with slowly building sexual tension between Catherine and Jeff. Their sexual encounter is smoldering and well worth the wait but over far too soon. Rich is sexy and arrogant but I still found him compelling and wish we'd learned more about him beyond the superficial outward package. Throughout the story Catherine fears the upcoming battle between her and Rich, but once the foreboding reaches its zenith it's a big letdown. The whole ending felt rushed and unfinished but has me looking forward to more as the characters are enjoyable with an entertaining premise. Here's to a satisfying start to a new paranormal series that you'll definitely want to read!
Breaking up is hard to do! (Cue Neil Sedaka-Google it, kids) Just ask Catherine, a witch who caught her warlock husband in bed with her human best friend. She leaves, putting as many miles as possible between her and her cheating husband, because she knows this will get ugly, very magically ugly. Along the way she picks up a handsome Aussie hitchhiking human whose carefree attitude and companionship is just what she needs right now. But has she put enough distance between herself and Rich? Will the magnetically sexy Jeff be in danger if Rich catches them together? Will modern technology trump magic? You will not believe what happens! Honest! Never Marry a Warlock by Marilyn Vix is pure entertainment, funny, sad, and smoldering, all in just a few short pages I found a connection with Catherine, who is definitely bewitchingly likable. And Jeff? Seriously, what is it about Aussies that make them such charmers? Far too short for my liking, but a great, fast read with a twist at the end. I could see an entire novel built around Catherine and her tribulations. I received this copy from the author as part of the Never Marry a Warlock Book Blast & Giveaway at Tome Tender
Catherine walked in to find her husband Rich in bed with her best friend Cassie. But Catherine wasn’t going to take this. Rich was a warlock and Catherine was a witch and pretty much matched rich. This time she told rich it was over she was done. They had only been married one year and every year married couples had to renew the vow. Charolette was no longer going to renew the vow and they would no longer be married. As Catherine heads north she picks up a hitchhiker Jeff who is carefree and gives her companionship which she needs. But Rich wasn’t going to let things just go. Catherine and Jeff end up in Vegas to have some fun. I liked this story alot but when a novella is good I wish it had been longer. This was a great fast read.there was even some action thrown in. I laughed at times while reading this. I didn’t really like the quick ending it was like all of sudden or at least that is how I felt. But I did love the twists and turns and the characters in this story. I recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
