About the Author

Deepak (Dee) Shukla is a retired corporate executive and financial advisor/portfolio manager with a degree in Engineering, an international MBA and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is also a former board director who holds the Institute of Corporate Directors’ ICD.D certification.
Dee embarked on his long and diverse career with multinational corporations as a strategic and financial management professional and has traversed the world during the course of his career including North America, South-east Asia, India and the Middle-East. He followed that up with a second career in investment management with the investment/private client division of two major Canadian banks, where he successfully managed the wealth of high-net-worth investors.
He has served as a Board Director/Trustee and Chair, Investment Committee of one of the largest public pension plans in Canada (2003-2011) as well as Chair of the Board and Director on the Board of the Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Dee was born in the picturesque Himalayan town of Dehradun in north India and arrived in Canada in his mid-20s to pursue his career. After a diverse and successful career, he retired early in 2012 and continues to reside in the Toronto area while pursuing his many interests and passions which include (in no particular order!):
-Travelling a few months every year to immerse deeply in the nature, history, culture and “way of life” in diverse countries of the world, and to escape the cold Canadian winter, of course!
- Attending live sporting events and music concerts in North America and worldwide whenever he can.
-Summer road trips and travel to explore nature and the outdoors in beautiful Canada.
-Spending time with his adult kids and four little grandkids in Toronto and Vancouver, B.C.
-Investing and spreading the message of financial literacy to everybody and anyone who cares to listen!
-Motivating young people to follow their true passion and tap their potential to the fullest.
