this was originally published under the name of barbara samuels,  one of barbara o'neal's earlier pen names.  i read this after reading all of the barbara o'neal books that i could get my hands on.  this was a really great story with wonderful characters. as with all of her novels that i have read, it is easy to get lost in the story and you really hate to see the book end.  if you like b.o.'s  most recent books ,i can highly recommend this one.

This was a well-written, wonderful book. Jewel Sabatino left home over 20 years ago and had a son.She has managed with the help of her best friend, Michael. Now Michael is very ill and Jewel has nowhere else to turn. She returns home, to the father whose heart she broke, as well as her mother, sisters and extended family. Michael's brother, Malachi, comes, too, to spend time with Michael. Jewel and Malachi are surprised to find sparks between the two of them. While reading this book, I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love. This was an amazing book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jewel Sabatino returns to her hometown of Pueblo, CO, 20 plus years after she took off with her musician boyfriend. She comes back with a teen son, Shane, and a medically ill good friend, Michael, and has to navigate her way back into her family which includes her father who disowned her for past deeds. This is wonderfully written story where the author captures the right tone for all of the characters' described emotions/experiences. This is the kind of book that I like to call "chick-lit" for the 40-something crowd. Thanks to the Inner Circle for the copy of this book.
